A Pokémon Go player trying to purchase additional storage for his items encountered an unexpected and frustrating obstacle.
If you play Pokémon Go regularly, there’s a good chance you’ve run out of storage for extra items and Pokémon. The game limits the amount your Pokémon storage and item bag can hold, with expansions available through the in-game store.
However, one player encountered a rather ironic problem while trying to purchase additional item storage, which frustrated other players on their behalf.
A Pokémon Go player cannot purchase the item bag expansion with a full bag
Reddit user Puzzleheaded_Leg703 took screenshots while attempting to purchase a Large Storage Box. However, the game told him that he couldn’t make the purchase because his item bag was already full.
This was understandably frustrating, given that one of the things included in the bundle was a bag extender.
The cause of the problem is likely that the Box also includes a Premium Battle Pass and a Remote Raid Pass, which take up storage slots. This highlights the issues many players have with Pokémon Go’s item shop and monetization practices.
“It’s like buying a pair of scissors and needing scissors to get them out of the package,” one commenter said.
Ultimately, the player decided to purchase additional item storage before purchasing the Box. This led some to speculate that the glitch was intentional and intended to make players spend more money, with one commenter saying “Well, I guess that answers the question of whether it was a bug or a feature …”
The good news here is that, as long as you can actually buy it, the Large Storage Box is a good deal. Players who calculated how much each item is worth individually found that the Box saves you 145 PokéCoins, setting it apart from other Boxes that players have called “ridiculously overvalued.”
