Amazon has partnered with TikTok and Pinterest to offer the convenience of purchasing products from the e-commerce company directly on the social media apps.
It is common to see Amazon advertisements on TikTok and Pinterest, but purchasing an item usually requires leaving the app. However, a new agreement between Amazon, TikTok, and Pinterest will change this. By linking your TikTok and Pinterest profiles to your Amazon account, you can now make purchases directly from the advertisements.
According to an article on TikTok’s official website, users will now receive Amazon product suggestions in their For You feed. Additionally, if their accounts are connected, they can make purchases through Amazon directly within the TikTok app without having to navigate away from it.
According to the post, individuals who opt to connect their accounts within the United States will have access to up-to-date pricing, Prime eligibility, delivery estimations, and product information for certain Amazon ads on TikTok. This will be included as part of their overall experience. Users have the option to disconnect their Amazon account from TikTok’s app settings at any point.
The partnership between Pinterest and Amazon operates in a similar manner and further enhances their current relationship, as Pinterest has already been utilizing Amazon to assist in filling additional advertising space.
This new deal is expected to have a positive impact on Amazon’s e-commerce business and further promote the concept of “social shopping”. Furthermore, it aligns with TikTok’s goal of increasing its U.S. e-commerce revenue to $17.5 billion by 2024.
In September 2023, TikTok launched TikTok Shop, an integrated e-commerce platform within the app. This feature allows merchants, brands, and creators to showcase and sell their products through in-feed videos, TikTok Lives, their Shop page, and the Shop tab. Similar to Amazon, the Shop tab serves as a convenient one-stop shop for users to browse and make purchases.
