TikTok Controversy: Woman Responds to Death Threats After Charger Theft Allegations

A woman named Vanessa Clover has addressed allegations of charger theft following a viral TikTok video that resulted in her receiving “floods of death threats.”

This September, a controversial TikTok video gained momentum after a man confronted Vanessa for allegedly taking his charger during a flight.

TikToker RcRelated captured the moment he confronted Vanessa, who claimed she stole his Apple charger. Although Vanessa returned the charger, other passengers urged him to remain calm.

In response, Vanessa Clover created her own video to share her side of the story, humorously referring to herself as the infamous “charger thief.”

She explained that she hadn’t intended to respond initially, but after being ‘bombarded with harassment’ and receiving numerous death threats, she felt compelled to speak up.

Vanessa claimed she discovered the charger on the floor of an aircraft and attempted to hand it to a flight attendant. However, when the stewardess reportedly told her that the crew could not be responsible for lost items, Vanessa decided to keep the charger in her bag for the time being.

Hours after the incident, she encountered the viral creator, Eddie. When questioned about the charger, Vanessa admitted she had it but was primarily concerned about her sick cat during the flight delay.

“It was honestly the last thing on my mind; I didn’t even know where this charger was,” she told her 11,000 followers in a confessional video. “What I was worried about was my 20 lb cat that had just thrown up at the gate.”

Vanessa expressed that she wanted to find a seat for her ill cat and luggage before addressing the charger situation.

“And also get a little bit of distance from this very aggressive, erratic man.”

“I could’ve acted more gracefully,” she admitted regarding her ‘chill the f**k out’ response to Eddie’s accusations.

Eddie countered in the viral video, “You’re ridiculous. You stole something without asking […] That is stealing, absolutely; you’re giving it back because I caught you.”

Vanessa reflected, “Like this man, I totally acted imperfectly as most of us do under duress.”

She noted, “What the video neglects to show is him losing his mind well after I’d given back the charger… he continues yelling at everyone and the crew.”

“His reaction was outsized from the start, and I’m sure he’ll make another video clinging on to his five minutes of fame, refusing and denying everything that I’ve said here.”

Vanessa wrapped up her four-minute clip by stating she does not condone stealing and acknowledged she should have acted with more ‘patience and compassion’ in relation to the item.

“I don’t wish any ill upon this man, and I hope that we can all kind of move on with our lives here,” she concluded.
