Barry Lewis, a popular TikToker known for his viral recipes and unique creations, has received over 1 million views in just three days for his latest creation- a transparent Big Mac.
In the past, the TikToker has become famous for creating transparent ketchup and bacon, but his latest achievement in science is the creation of the colossal Big Mac.
Lewis claimed that creating this video was his most challenging task yet, taking him a total of three days to finish. To begin, he procured an authentic Big Mac from McDonald’s and proceeded to boil the two beef patties in water until the liquid turned a different color, proving that the beef flavor was present in the boiling water.
After draining the water, he adds gelatine sheets and pours the liquid into a circular mould. Once it has set, he has a clear ‘beef patty’.
For the majority of the components, he makes stock from both the lettuce and the onions.
@mrbarrylewis Yes, this is a transparent (or my best attempt at) homemade McDonald’s Big Mac! Enjoy, this was one of the toughest things and most nervous I’ve ever been in a video – you’ll probably know which part I mean too when you get to it! recipe bigmac macdonalds weirdfood funfood funrecipes
To produce the cheese, he combines hot water, gelatine, and a noticeably strong ‘cheese extract’ in a bowl. The pickles are made by mixing gelatine with pickle water and shaping them into small, pickle-shaped spheres.
To prepare the Big Mac Sauce, he follows the same method of combining the sauce with water and gelatine, which, although it may seem incorrect, apparently yields successful results.
According to any lover of translucent food, the most difficult aspect of creating transparent bread is incorporating potato starch, a root known as ‘arrowfoot’, and the bold Australian condiment, Marmite.
After Lewis takes his ‘bread’ out of the oven, he proceeds to sprinkle sesame seeds on top and carefully puts together a completely see-through Bug Mac, incorporating all of the layers.
Despite its seemingly bizarre appearance, the TikToker claims that it has a 60% similarity in taste to an authentic Big Mac, causing curiosity among viewers as to what the remaining 40% could possibly taste like based on the comments.
There were individuals who playfully remarked that this translucent food resembled something out of the future, jokingly saying: “They promised flying cars”and “Clear food came before GTA 6.”
Some expressed concern about the texture, commenting: “That is so cursed it would trigger a sensory overload for me.”
Despite this, the general consensus was that people were incredibly impressed by this jellyfish-inspired dish, with many commenting that it perfectly embodied the type of food content they seek out on TikTok.
A different TikToker gained widespread attention when she shared videos of her wild food creations, dubbed ‘unhinged cheese pairings’.
