TikToker and lifestyle influencer Liv Schmidt has returned to the platform after being banned for violating TikTok’s community guidelines, much to the delight of her supporters who have followed her to a new account.
On September 17, Schmidt, 22, tried to access her TikTok account but discovered she had been banned due to content that violated the platform’s rules.
Her ban came after multiple posts promoting ‘skinniness’ and content that TikTok deemed as “disordered eating.”
According to TikTok’s community guidelines, it is prohibited to “show or promote disordered eating and dangerous weight loss behaviors, or facilitate the trade or marketing of weight loss or muscle gain products.”
Before her official account was disabled, Schmidt had amassed over 670,000 followers, offering subscriptions for $9.99 per month where she shared her health tips.

Schmidt also shared videos promoting the idea of working out while reducing calorie intake, suggesting that cutting calories was easier than burning them through exercise. In an interview with the Wall Street Journal, she explained, “For me, it was way easier to cut out 300 calories of food than to burn 300 calories in exercise, especially if you’re a career person with a limited amount of time.”
Emphasizing her preference for a slim physique, she stated, “For me and my personal aesthetic, I like to be skinny, and there’s nothing wrong with that.”
Following the disabling of her original TikTok account, Schmidt quickly created a new account, and she has already gained over 25,000 followers, receiving positive messages from her fans.
“GIRL, I panicked when you got banned. You keep me motivated. Never leave!” one fan expressed.
Another added, “A bunch of jealous girlies reporting you! I’m glad you are back.”
@notlivsschmidt I haven’t been back
One viewer mentioned that Schmidt has inspired them to pursue a healthier lifestyle: “Since watching your videos, I started portion control and no restrictive diet, also less binging. I don’t care what people say, you are truly my inspiration,” they commented.
However, Schmidt drew criticism for previously stating in her new TikTok bio that she aimed to end obesity. Her bio read, “It’s not a sin to want to be thin. Saving America from obesity 1 person @ a time,” though she later deleted it and replaced it with her YouTube handle.
Despite reconsidering her bio, a fan supported her stance, commenting, “Finally someone who normalizes being toned is healthy. America is overweight, and people act like it’s healthy and normalize it.” Schmidt responded to the comment with a simple, “Duhh.”
Schmidt is not alone in facing bans from social media platforms for violating guidelines. Recently, Twitch star Amouranth was banned from YouTube in August for her ASMR channel being deemed too sexual, which resulted in her being unable to post on it. Shortly thereafter, her main YouTube channel was also removed.
