TikTok Star Killed by Tractor-Trailer While Crossing Busy Highway

TikToker Demaris Martinez tragically passed away after being struck by oncoming traffic on a busy highway in Paramus, New Jersey.

The 28-year-old content creator died in the early hours of Saturday, September 21, while walking across Route 17, a heavily traveled highway. Reports indicate that she was hit by two separate vehicles.

According to local authorities, Martinez was walking at around 3:30 AM towards the southbound lanes of Route 17 in Bergen County, Paramus.

The social media influencer was struck in the middle lane; the first vehicle was driven by a 42-year-old, followed by a second collision with a 65-year-old driving a tractor-trailer.

Paramus Police Chief Robert M. Guidetti has stated that authorities are seeking information regarding the circumstances surrounding Martinez’s death.

The police are continuing their investigation to find out how Ms. Martinez came to be in the Paramus area, specifically near the Citibank at 700 State Highway 17 North, as Guidetti mentioned in an email.

Before her untimely death, Martinez was an active social media personality, sharing lifestyle content with her 15,000 TikTok followers and 3,500 YouTube subscribers.

In recent months, her video views soared, and in a TikTok posted in June, she expressed her joy over completing her semester with a 4.0 GPA.

“I’m living my dreams. I’m blessed. I have my favorite cars. I have my favorite houses,” she shared.

Additionally, she had ambitions to start her own law firm, emphasizing her goal to “advocate for women.”

Martinez portrayed herself as “funny, cute, and smart” on her TikTok profile, stating, “I love traveling, writing, art, and shopping. I’m an advocate, student, mother, and content creator.”

“Funny, cute, and smart are my favorite words to describe me. I’ve been content creating since 15 years old and love vlogging!” she added.

Martinez also provided exclusive content through a subscription model priced between $5.39 and $9.99 per month.

Sadly, Martinez is not the only content creator to pass away recently. In August, YouTuber Luke Goodwin lost his battle with a rare cancer diagnosis. In September, professional motorcyclist and YouTuber Luca Salvadori tragically died in a crash during the International Road Racing Championship.
