One of TikTok’s most requested features has been the ability to increase the length of videos, and the platform has delivered on this request.
TikTok has rapidly emerged as one of the leading social media applications, attracting users with its diverse array of trends, filters, songs, and humorous content that thrive on the short-form video platform.
As TikTok’s user base expands and more individuals embrace content creation, many are curious about the possibility of filming and uploading longer videos.
Can a TikTok be longer than 60 seconds?
Absolutely! TikTok videos can now be up to 10 minutes long if you record them directly within the app, and can go up to 60 minutes if you upload a pre-recorded video.
Initially, users were limited to 15-second videos on TikTok, a restriction that was progressively extended to one minute, and then three minutes, as the demand for longer video content increased, allowing creators to include more in their videos.
While the three-minute limit offered creators significantly more space, many requested further extensions. In February 2022, TikTok announced the rollout of 10-minute video capabilities across the platform.
This new video length has benefitted numerous users, especially those who previously had to split their tutorials or storytimes into multiple parts.
In May 2024, TikTok decided to expand the maximum video length yet again. While recordings made directly in the app remain capped at 10 minutes, videos uploaded to the TikTok platform can now be as long as 60 minutes.
