TikToker Babeowitz became a viral sensation on the app when a video of her and a friend attempting the ‘Hot to Go’ dance ended in a disaster.
Ever since its launch in 2016, TikTok has seen a multitude of viral dances, including one that is currently gaining popularity with the help of Chappell Roan’s song ‘Hot to Go.’
In a similar fashion to the Village People’s 1978 hit “YMCA,”fans use hand gestures to spell out the letters in the title of the song while performing the dance.
On August 14, Babeowitz, a TikToker, posted her rendition of the dance with her friend Matt… which quickly went viral on the app after she accidentally got hit in the neck.
After unintentionally striking her in the neck, Matt stopped the music and went to check on his friend. “Oh my god, please turn that off,”the TikToker exclaimed, trying to catch her breath.

Within a week, Babeowitz’ video has gained over 40 million views, along with almost 6 million likes and more than 25,000 comments from stunned viewers and dedicated fans of the content creator.
“Breaking news! According to one user, the HOT TO GO dance is an excellent self-defense technique.”
Another person exclaimed, “The sudden THWAP followed by choking is causing me harm.”
Spotify also offered a response, dubbing it “the smack heard round the world.”
Babeowitz and her friend also provided an update to the viral video, with a simple clip of the two standing together while she wore a neck brace.

The follow-up also became extremely popular, garnering more than 37 million views and 20,000 comments within a span of only two days.
“One user commented, stating, “I can hear my own wheezing because the silence is so loud.”
“One person described the silence as demure, mindful, empathetic, and cutesy.”
Many others have also used the term ‘demure’ in their comments, as it is currently one of the most popular words on TikTok. While there may be differing opinions on its precise meaning, a common interpretation is that it conveys a sense of being “shy, modest, and reserved.”
