TikTok’s “Watch My Boyfriend for Me” Trend Explained

The trend on TikTok of “watch my boyfriend for me”has been causing viewers to laugh at the well-behaved actions of their girlfriends’ boyfriends as they walk away. Although it is a recent addition to the platform, it has already amassed over 150 million posts.

Participating in TikTok trends with your significant other can be incredibly enjoyable. Whether it involves learning a new dance, trying out an eating challenge like “Rock, Paper, Scissors,” or surprising your partner with a trend, there are numerous fads on TikTok that can be shared with someone special.

One of TikTok’s most recent trends involves women requesting their viewers to “keep an eye on my boyfriend”as they step away for a short time.

During the popular “watch my boyfriend for me”trend, the girlfriend sets up her phone to record her boyfriend and then says “watch my boyfriend or me”as she walks away.

Frequently, the boyfriend contributes to the trend by sharing a narrative, discussing their girlfriend, or expressing confusion and frustration.

On April 27, popular TikTok duo Caleb & Andrea joined the latest trend and gained over 15.8 million views. During the video, Andrea placed her phone in front of her snacking partner who then looked around in confusion, resembling a lost “toddler”who was unaware of what was going on.

Despite Caleb’s lack of eye contact with the phone, viewers still found the video comical. One person even commented that they could sense his anxiety through the video.

Only a few days prior to Caleb & Andrea’s video, TikToker Anna Muller also joined in on the trend and shared her version, which has garnered over 2.7 million views so far. In her video, Anna placed her phone in front of her partner and explained that she needed to “take our fish for a walk.”

Her partner rolled his eyes and commented, “We don’t even have any fish,”as he continued to peel his mango. He then proceeded to share interesting facts about flamingos, proudly stating, “A flock of flamingos is called a flamboyance.”

Those who watched Anna’s “watch my boyfriend for me”challenge were thoroughly entertained by her partner. One viewer commented, “I initially tuned in for the babysitting, but I ended up staying for the flamboyant flamingo show.”Another added, “I was so engrossed in learning about flamingos during your fish’s walk that I didn’t want it to end.”

Although the trend originated in 2023, it gained widespread popularity in April. The “watch my boyfriend for me”trend on TikTok has become incredibly popular, with a staggering 173 million posts already dedicated to it.
