Timothee Chalamet to Perform Bob Dylan Tribute Sooner Than Anticipated

Timothée Chalamet has skillfully made his mark by embodying Bob Dylan in the film A Complete Unknown, and it appears that he’s ready for an encore performance that fans won’t want to miss.

Chalamet captivated audiences with his portrayal of the legendary folk singer, earning accolades not only for his striking resemblance but also for masterfully emulating Dylan’s distinctive vocal style. The film debuted in late 2024, yet news of Chalamet’s next appearance as Dylan has already surfaced.

Chalamet Set to Shine on SNL as Bob Dylan

On January 25, 2025, Timothée Chalamet will take center stage as both the host and musical guest on the iconic variety show Saturday Night Live. This announcement marks an exciting return for the show and adds a unique twist to Chalamet’s involvement.

This upcoming appearance will be Chalamet’s third hosting stint on SNL, following his prior engagements in December 2020 and November 2023, along with a cameo in April 2021. However, this will be the first time he will also serve as the show’s musical guest.

In A Complete Unknown, Chalamet performed original interpretations of several Dylan songs, accompanied by harmonica and guitar. For his SNL performance, he is expected to reprise his role as Bob Dylan (as reported by Deadline), although the specific songs he will perform remain undisclosed.

Timothée Chalamet joins a select group of only 41 individuals who have both hosted and served as a musical guest on the same night. The last non-professional singer to achieve this was Deion Sanders in 1995, with notable appearances by other celebrities like Lily Tomlin, Desi Arnaz, and Gary Busey THR.

An interesting historical note: Bob Dylan made a singular appearance on SNL back on October 20, 1979, during an episode hosted by Eric Idle. During this rare performance, he played three of his iconic songs, including “Gotta Serve Somebody” and “When You Gonna Wake Up?” While it remains uncertain whether Dylan will make a surprise visit during Chalamet’s performance, fans can certainly hope for an unexpected reunion. One thing’s for sure—Bob Dylan marches to the beat of his own drum.
