Tips for Acquiring More Prefabs in Frostpunk 2

In addition to utilizing Heatstamps, Prefabs are a vital component for constructing buildings in Frostpunk 2. Without Prefabs, you may find yourself limited to your existing constructions, necessitating the deconstruction of other buildings to obtain necessary resources. Fortunately, while Prefabs may be somewhat scarce, there are multiple strategies to acquire them. Here’s a comprehensive guide on how to get Prefabs in Frostpunk 2.

Prefabs are essential materials necessary for constructing various structures in Frostpunk 2. They are required for building districts, upgrades, hubs, and more. Unfortunately, at the beginning of a game, Prefabs are extremely limited.

There are three primary methods to acquire Prefabs: extracting them from Prefab tiles, producing them in Industrial Districts, and importing them from expeditions beyond the main city.

Initially, you’ll primarily have access to the extraction method, but establishing Industrial Districts can also be done early in the game. However, this method is less efficient as it consumes a large number of other resources.

Seek out Prefab tiles (indicated by a gold bar icon) and construct Extraction Districts on these tiles. You’ll rely heavily on these Prefabs during the early stages of your playthrough. As you deplete your Prefabs, it’s necessary to create Industrial Districts to start producing more.

Industrial Districts will naturally produce Prefabs, but if you prefer to switch to Goods production, you can manually adjust the production type by selecting each Industrial District and changing the production icon. One Industrial District yields a minimal output of seven Prefabs per week, which is quite low in comparison to the overall demand for maintaining the district. Additionally, Industrial Districts require substantial materials to operate.

It’s advisable to avoid constructing multiple Prefab production sources from Industrial Districts. Once you reach the station and establish your Logistics Districts, you can begin conducting expeditions with your Frostland Teams in search of additional material sources outside the city. Explore different regions; some will feature the Prefabs icon. Conduct expeditions to gather these resources and return them to your city.

If you discover a permanent source or deposit during your expeditions, consider expanding your Frostland Teams for efficient resource extraction and to facilitate more expeditions.

If you’re short on Prefabs, remember that demolishing older buildings, especially Extraction Districts that have depleted their resources, can help. You’ll recover some materials when dismantling these redundant districts.
