Tips for Increasing Food Supplies in Frostpunk 2

Food is an essential resource that sustains your city in Frostpunk 2. A food shortage can lead to diminishing trust in leadership, a drop in population, and rising tension among citizens. Fortunately, extracting food early in the game is relatively straightforward. However, as food deposits deplete, it becomes increasingly challenging. Even if you have exhausted all food deposits in your vicinity, there are still methods to obtain food. Here’s how to increase your food supply in Frostpunk 2.

To extract food for your city, you must construct an Extraction District on a food tile or on land with fertile soil. When establishing districts, icons will appear on various tiles in your area. Look for the symbol resembling a plant or leaf; these indicate food tiles.

This is crucial because, similar to Chapter One of the campaign, multiple food tiles may be located close to each other. It is advantageous to place two Extraction Districts to extract from around eight food tile nodes instead of having a single district that covers six. This may be less efficient depending on the circumstances.

While extracting food from these tiles is the primary method of obtaining food, you can also enhance your food consumption in various ways. Implementing laws that reduce food consumption can indirectly increase your food supply, as your city will require less. Additionally, researching food benefits or sources from the Idea Tree provides another effective means of boosting food availability.

This feature ensures that you can still acquire food even if local sources run dry. Another method to secure more food is through expeditions. Create your Logistics Districts and deploy your Frostland Teams to search for resources beyond your city.

There are also rare opportunities in the campaign where you can tighten the Wanderer’s belts, leading to reduced food consumption (prologue).
