Togashi’s Latest Update Features Return of Original Hunter x Hunter Cast

On Thursday, October 31, 2024, renowned Hunter x Hunter creator Yoshihiro Togashi shared an exciting update regarding his work on the anime and manga series, including a brand new illustration. This latest piece of art continues the depiction of Gon and Killua that was revealed earlier in the month and showcases the original characters from the series’ first storyline, known as the Hunter Exam Arc.

While not every character from Hunter x Hunter’s initial story arc is featured in this artwork, it prominently displays the five most important characters along with some cherished supporting figures. As this sketch builds on previous illustrations, there’s potential for the complete cast from this arc to make an appearance soon.

Latest Illustration Features Iconic Characters from the Debut Arc of Hunter x Hunter

As noted, although not every figure from the first arc of Hunter x Hunter is present in the current sketch, it effectively includes all primary characters. This ensemble features key protagonists Gon Freecss, Killua Zoldyck, Leorio Paradinight, and Kurapika, alongside vital antagonists Hisoka Morow, Illumi Zoldyck, and Tonpa. Additionally, supporting characters Satotz and Hanzo are included in the artwork.

In his update, Togashi joyfully reported that he is actively working on pages 5 and 6 of an unspecified manga chapter. Given his latest reports, it appears that the chapter is likely within the mid-to-high 420s. Earlier in October 2024, Togashi reaffirmed that he had completed all his responsibilities for chapters leading up to 422. His team of assistants will finish any remaining tasks before publication.

This assessment of Togashi’s progress aligns with his previously stated ambition to finalize work on chapter 430 by year-end. The mangaka appears to be making excellent strides and has sufficient time remaining this year to achieve this goal. However, despite his enthusiasm for creating, his physical health remains a pressing concern.

In the past, Togashi has faced significant health challenges, particularly involving his back, which affects his overall functioning. He has openly discussed the severe pain he experiences daily. Fans have shown immense support during Togashi’s hiatuses, expressing willingness to accept an incomplete series if it helps him avoid unnecessary suffering.

Togashi’s manga has been serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine since March 1998 and remains an ongoing series. Nevertheless, due to Togashi’s health issues, it currently follows an irregular publishing schedule, with several hiatuses, some lasting multiple years.
