The official X account (@anime_toman) announced the sequel to the Tokyo Revengers anime on June 16, 2024. Along with this news, the series’ official YouTube channel released a compilation video featuring some memorable moments from the previous seasons. Tokyo Revengers: Announcement of Second Season
The announcement of the Tokyo Revengers anime sequel on social media included a visual of the protagonist, Takemitchy, carrying Mikey, one of the supporting characters. The description also revealed that production for the Tokyo Revengers anime sequel has begun.
“TV anime “Tokyo Revengers.”A sequel is in the works! The sequel production key visual has also been released!”
A compilation of moments from previous seasons was also uploaded as an announcement video. The video opened with the scene of Hina’s death, planned by Kisaki Tetta in a car accident, and Takemitchy’s vow to save her in a different timeline.
The video concluded with a clip from the first episode of Takemitchy’s journey, accompanied by the opening theme of the first season, Cry Baby by Official HIGE DANDISM, playing in the background. The audio of Mikey pleading for Takemitchy to rescue him was also included, and the same scene was featured in the announcement tweet.
What can we expect in the sequel to the Tokyo Revengers anime?
The tweet and YouTube announcement for the Tokyo Revengers anime sequel did not specify the format of the upcoming release, leaving it unclear if it will be a TV series, movie, or OVA series. However, it has been confirmed that the sequel will focus on either the next arc or the next two arcs.
The previous installment of Tokyo Revengers (season 3) covered the Tenjiku arc, spanning 13 episodes. In terms of chronological order, the upcoming arc for adaptation would be the Bonten arc, consisting of only 21 chapters.
Therefore, if the Tokyo Revengers anime sequel were to be made into a TV series, it could potentially combine the next arc, the Three Deities arc (29 chapters), with the second to last arc to create a single season. The finale arc, the Kanto Manji arc (43 chapters), could then be adapted into a separate and final season.
If the story is adapted into a movie, the next arc will be condensed into a movie, and the final arc, which includes the Three Deities arc and the Kanto Manji arc, will be adapted into a full season.
Fairy Tale Revengers is a chibi spin-off series that follows the characters of Tokyo Revengers. The show will feature the characters in various fairy tale settings, with the first episode taking on the Japanese folktale of Momotarou, the legendary boy who emerged from a giant peach.
