Tom Cruise’s Selfie at the Olympics Draws Attention from Horror Fans

Tom Cruise is always the first to volunteer for any daring stunts. He even took a photo during the Olympics closing ceremony, but it has also brought back memories for horror fans.

The Olympics may seem like it has been continuously airing on TV for a long time, and yet it has only just begun. However, last night (August 11) marked the official closing ceremony, which had a few unexpected moments.

The closing ceremony of Paris featured the handover of the Olympic flag to Los Angeles, where it will reside until the 2028 games. The flag was carried to the Hollywood Hills by famous actor Tom Cruise, known for his role in Mission Impossible.

Despite being the most dedicated action movie star in the industry, it was logical for him to leap off stadiums, planes, and buildings in the name of his craft. However, horror movie enthusiasts have noticed something else: Cruise captured a selfie before embarking on his jaw-dropping stunts… and it’s reminiscent of a trap.

M. Night Shyamalan’s most recent film was released on August 9, featuring a serial killer attempting to escape a crowded arena that was designed as a trap to capture him. Coincidentally, Cruise’s photos bear a striking resemblance to the scenes in the film.

A fan posted on X/Twitter that he is about to discover the concert is actually a trap.

Another person added, “Based on the movie, he shouldn’t be concerned because being shot by two tasers simultaneously seems to have no impact.”

A third person agreed that Tom Cruise would have been the perfect choice for that role in the 2000s.

After that, the trend of memes persisted, as fans juxtaposed screenshots from the latest film with footage of Cruise climbing the stadium ceiling and receiving the Olympic flag from the French delegation.

Clearly, the contrast between the two scenes in real life was stark. In Trap, the main character Cooper (Josh Hartnett), who is nicknamed “The Butcher,”is in a frantic competition with the FBI to escape the arena. This information is revealed in the trailer, so it is not a spoiler.

Similar to Cruise, Cooper initially appears friendly to all those he encounters, granting him the ability to execute an escape plan without being noticed.

Another fan stated that if they had to choose between Tom Cruise and Cooper as the most likely serial killer, they would still pick Tom Cruise – even after watching Trap.

Trap is currently showing in theaters. You can find out why the trailer doesn’t give away the ending of the movie, why director Shyamalan hasn’t read any of the fan theories, and discover other new films available for streaming this month.
