The creators of the popular manga series, Tomodachi Game, have revealed that the final volume, volume 26, will be released in Fall 2024. This news was shared with fans through the release of volume 25 on Thursday, May 9, 2024.
The 25th volume is now available on e-commerce platforms like Amazon, and fans are eagerly anticipating the final set of chapters that will bring the series to a close.
Tomodachi Game was created by Mikoto Yamaguchi, and is written and illustrated by Yuki Sato. The manga first appeared in Kodansha’s Bessatsu Shonen Magazine in 2013 and has been serialized for eleven years. The conclusion of the story will be revealed with the upcoming release of the 25th volume.
Status of the Tomodachi Game manga and anime series
As previously mentioned, the series currently consists of 25 volumes that have been published. The 26th volume is expected to be released in the upcoming fall, marking the conclusion of the series. Beginning in 2013, the manga went on its first hiatus in December 2019 and then took another break in February of the following year.
In recent years, its popularity has continued to increase and it was adapted into an anime a few years ago.
The Tomodachi Game manga was adapted into an anime series, which premiered in April 2022. The animation was handled by Okuruto Noboru, and its combination of a psychological thriller theme and smooth animation led to a surge in the series’ popularity.
In addition, the Tomodachi Game manga was adapted into a television drama in June 2017. A live-action film based on the series was also produced, but it did not receive a positive reception.
Tomodachi Game – Manga Plot
The plot of Tomodachi Game manga centers on the friendship between Yuuichi Takagiri and his four companions – Tenji Mikasa, Makoto Shibe, Shiho Sawaragi, and Yutori Kokorogu. These individuals hold a special place in Yuuichi’s heart and he values their friendship greatly.
The story commences with the unfortunate cancellation of their highly-anticipated school excursion, as the funds collected by Shiho and Makoto are stolen. As a result, the rest of the class begins to distance themselves from the pair.
As a result, the main character and his companions are deceived into attending a fraudulent gathering, during which they are robbed by a band of unfamiliar criminals. Upon awakening, they discover that they are in a room painted entirely in white, with Manabu-kun standing before them. Manabu-kun was once the star of a popular children’s program, but the show was terminated due to its unsettling and malevolent themes.
Ultimately, Manabu-kun discloses that a group member was responsible for arranging their meeting at the location where they were taken captive. They had all gathered in order to resolve the extensive debt that they had accumulated.
To achieve this goal, the entire group must participate in a series of games designed to test their friendship. As the games continue, Yuuichi is forced to evaluate his relationships as betrayals and secrets come to light.
