Tony Hawk Discusses Potential Pro Skater Revival: “Conversations with Activision”

As Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater celebrates its 25th anniversary this year, the legendary skater has shared some thrilling news.

During an interview with Mythical Kitchen, Tony Hawk disclosed that he has been in communication with Activision, sparking excitement for a potential new Pro Skater game.

“I wish I could tell you more, but I can tell you that I’ve been talking to Activision again, which is insanely exciting – we’re working on something,” Hawk mentioned when asked about the future of the franchise. He also emphasized that “it will be something the fans will truly appreciate.”

This news is particularly intriguing after Hawk stated in 2022 that the remasters of Pro Skater 3 & 4 were halted due to changes within Activision. “We were doing 3 and 4, and then Vicarious got kind of absorbed, and then they were looking for other developers, and then it was over.”

At that time, many fans began to lose hope for any new remakes or games. However, Hawk’s recent comments suggest that there is still potential for the series to continue.

When pressed for more details, Hawk was careful to keep specifics under wraps but expressed how significantly the series has influenced his life.

“That game is a reason people still know my name. I’ll never forget it…I’m proud to be associated with it. To this day, people credit the game with getting them into skating, getting into a certain kind of music, and I just feel lucky to have my name associated with that.”

While nothing has been explicitly confirmed by Activision, a major announcement would be a fitting celebration for Pro Skater’s 25th anniversary.

In the meantime, fans can still enjoy the Pro Skater 1 + 2 remasters, which are regarded as some of the best remakes in gaming history.
