Tony Hinchliffe Unveils Kill Tony Episode Featuring Shane Gillis, Set YouTube Record as Trump

Tony Hinchliffe recently announced that his popular comedy podcast, ‘Kill Tony,’ has achieved a remarkable milestone on YouTube with its groundbreaking episode featuring Shane Gillis impersonating Donald Trump and Adam Ray as Joe Biden.

Ranked among the leading comedy podcasts globally, Kill Tony provides aspiring comedians the platform to shine by delivering one-minute comedy sets.

The show has welcomed numerous renowned comedians and high-profile guests, including Joe Rogan, UFC fighter Sean O’Malley, Matt Rife, Post Malone, and Tucker Carlson, among others.

On July 15, the podcast showcased its most-viewed episode to date (KT 672), where Shane Gillis skillfully portrayed Donald Trump and Adam Ray delivered a spot-on impression of Joe Biden, both maintaining their characters throughout the performance.

Shane Gillis’ portrayal of Trump has reached iconic status.

This episode has amassed over 20 million views, and according to Hinchliffe, not only did it achieve a record for YouTube, but it also surpassed Netflix records.

During his appearance on The Duncan Trussell Family Hour, Hinchliffe mentioned that Netflix’s most-watched show, The Roast of Tom Brady, had received 1.5 billion hours of viewing time.

In contrast, the Kill Tony episode featuring Gillis and Ray skyrocketed ahead with an impressive 2.5 billion minutes viewed.

“According to YouTube, this episode holds a record for retention rate. Viewers frequently returned to watch it from where they had left off or watched it completely,” he explained.

“Many watched it multiple times for a significant amount of time. YouTube restricts the number of views that can be counted for each video to prevent system abuse, but they track watched minutes, which is a major achievement,” Tony elaborated. “This year’s most-watched comedy episode was filmed right nearby at the Comedy Mothership.”

As previously noted, part of the episode’s success can be attributed to Adam Ray’s Biden impression; however, he is slated to showcase another well-known act on Netflix this November.

On November 19, Ray will present his Dr. Phil impression in a dedicated comedy special where he will interview the actual Dr. Phil as well.

It will be interesting to see if this special can exceed the viewership numbers of Kill Tony 672, raising questions about the future of the podcast amid speculations of its potential migration to Netflix.
