Most anime villains stay true to their beliefs and are unafraid to reveal the flaws in society, a nation, or humanity as a whole. Unlike certain heroes who are hesitant to take action, villains in anime are willing to do whatever it takes, even if it means doing something morally wrong, in order to achieve what they believe is just.

Despite being the primary antagonist of Chainsaw Man, Makima captured the hearts of every anime fan, even those who were not initially fans. Her devil abilities not only manipulate the characters within the narrative, but also captivate the audience, including yourself.

Ever since his debut in Dragon Ball Z, Frieza has remained a consistent presence in the Dragon Ball universe. No matter how many times he is defeated, he somehow manages to come back even stronger. While his persistence can be both frustrating and admirable, he continues to be a significant force within the series.
If you were to ask me why Frieza is one of the most beloved villains, the answer is quite simple: despite his wickedness, Frieza’s fixation on the Saiyans, particularly Goku, resembles that of someone who cannot bear to see their ex-partner happy and will do anything to prevent it. Frieza refuses to let go and will not allow the Saiyans to move forward either. Watching this vengeful tyrant cause chaos is entertaining; perhaps that is why he has captured your heart. Am I mistaken?

His ultimate goal is to nurture and fatten up Gon like a chicken, and then savor the reward all for himself. Anyone who dares to harm his precious chicken (Gon) will face his wrath.
Light Yagami

Despite being highly intelligent, Light Yagami’s discovery of the Death Note did not corrupt his moral compass. He initially intended to use it for good, but as more deaths occurred and a pattern was noticed, it became apparent that someone equally intelligent was also using the Death Note. In order to conceal any evidence, Light resorted to killing innocent people. This ultimately led him down a dangerous path of abusing his power, as he eliminated anyone who posed a threat to his plans.
In the end, Yagami was the one responsible for L’s death, but his obsession with power ultimately led to his downfall. He met a tragic end, leaving Yagami consumed by darkness and Light nowhere to be seen.

Dio Brando fits the textbook definition of a villain. Although many of his villainous qualities are predictable, they are also easy to understand. From harming a pet to stealing a first kiss from someone’s girlfriend, attempting to murder his stepfather in order to inherit a wealthy estate, and even sacrificing his soul for supernatural abilities, Dio has a knack for covering all the bases.
Despite his death, Dio Brando’s actions continue to have a lasting impact and make him stand out. The infamous villain is adored for his portrayal of humanity’s hidden flaws and his cunning tactics to gain acceptance.
3. Donquixote Doflamingo
Although it may be difficult for the protagonists to understand, Doflamingo is completely unrepentant in his evil ways. His actions and goals are always rooted in malice, and he is driven by an insatiable greed that knows no limits. He firmly believes that those in positions of power have the authority to determine what is right and wrong, and this is what fuels his destructive behavior. By the time he was eventually defeated by Luffy, Doflamingo had sunk to the despicable level of killing innocent people for his own twisted amusement. Despite the revulsion felt by others, he remains true to his malevolent nature.
Despite his personality, Doflamingo is admired as a style icon by both fans and non-fans. The light pink feather coat and deep pink pants he wears have become popular choices for cosplayers. As he breathed his last, Askeladd advised Thorfinn to let go of his desire for revenge and instead discover a purpose for living. It is no wonder why he is held in such high regard.

Johan Liebert’s presence leaves a lasting impact on you, though not a positive one. Despite being a fictional character, his psyche is something to be wary of. Johan embodies the concept of an unfathomable void, a notion that can only be fully grasped by watching the masterfully crafted psychological thriller, Monster. (I highly recommend it)
Despite his malicious actions, he is adored not for them but for his ability to conceal them beneath his charming facade. With just a few words, he can lead someone to the brink of death. He is undeniably the most wicked villain in anime, yet still holds a special place in the hearts of fans.
