The 2024 winter season was interesting, but the spring season will have nothing to envy: here is a list of 15 great anime to add to your watch list at all costs!
Many surprising anime got the year 2024 off to a good start: between Solo Leveling, season 3 of Classroom of the Elite, Dungeons & Dragons and even season 2 of Mashle, spectators had a lot of nice things to watch under the tooth. But that was just an appetizer, because what happens is on a whole new level.
The spring 2024 programming is filled to the brim with particularly promising series: it’s impossible not to find what you’re looking for in the multitude of genres that are already coming, between expected sequels and intriguing new releases. And no, it’s not just Demon Slayer that’s worth a look in this list!
15 – Wind Breaker
Adapting the popular manga by Satoru Nii, Wind Breaker will debut as an anime in spring 2024. The series will be released in April but does not yet have a specific release date. For many, it represents the revival of the furyo genre: it follows the adventures of Haruka Sakura, who is only interested in fighting and is always looking for opponents worthy of her fists.
The hero joins Furin High School, infamous for its delinquents. Small twist: the thugs in question actually use their skills to protect their city… but Haruka doesn’t care much about becoming a hero. All he wants is to fight his way to the top.
14 – Bartender: Glass of God
Bartender: Glass of God revolves around Ryuu Sasakura, a prodigy bartender working in the Eden Hall bar, hidden in the alleys of the Ginza district. It is said that he concocts inimitable cocktails there.
However, getting to Eden Hall is almost impossible. You can’t find him: on the contrary, he finds you. It is therefore clients with varied origins and problems who come through the door of the establishment. And Ryuu knows the perfect cocktail to guide each of them.
13 – Spice & Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf
The anime Spice & Wolf will be entitled to its reboot in spring 2024. Inspired by the manga by Isuna Hasekura, this new anime will take up the story of Kraft Lawrence and his meeting with the wolf goddess Holo. The traveling merchant will indeed find the she-wolf sleeping in his cart.
Holo will then negotiate with him so that he takes him on his wanderings. In exchange, she will offer him her advice and wisdom, ensuring that he will significantly increase his profits.
12 – Me, when I reincarnate as a slime – season 3
Me, When I Get Reincarnated as a Slime is one of the major anime and manga franchises returning for an all-new season in spring 2024. The story begins with Satoru Mikami, a 37-year-old office worker, being stabbed by a pickpocket. On the verge of death, he hears a strange voice… and wakes up in the form of a slime.
The surprising hero then meets a giant dragon named Veldra, sealed for 300 years. Satoru quickly befriends him and frees him. It is after this feat that he embarks on a great quest: it is not because he is a slime that he cannot experience a great adventure.
11 – Hibike! Euphonium 3
Scheduled for April 2024, this series is based on a light novel by Takeda Ayano. The story centers around Omae Kumiko, who gave up music after a bad experience at a national marching band competition.
However, after starting high school and meeting new people, she found herself drawn to music once again. Season 3 will adapt Kumiko’s third year in high school.
10 – Kaiju No. 8
Kaiju No.8 is adapted from the manga by Naoya Matsumoto and is produced by the renowned studio Production IG, already behind excellent anime like Psycho-Pass or the re-edited version of Ghost in the Shell.
Kafka Hibino is a cleaner of carcasses of Kaijus, terrifying giants. He excels in his field, but remains frustrated: what he wanted was to join the Defense Forces to fight, rather than mop the floor after the battle. One day while he is doing the dirty work, a mysterious creature enters his system and transforms him into a full-fledged Kaiju: he is now half-human, half-kaiju, and will be called Kaiju No. 8.
9 – Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation – Partie 2 de la saison 2
Season 2 of Mushoku Tensei: Jobless Reincarnation was one of the most popular anime series of summer 2023, and a second part was announced shortly after its finale. The story follows a desperate unemployed man who is reincarnated in a fantasy world while retaining the memories of his past life.
Living under the name Rudeus Greyrat, this time he is determined to live without regrets. Season 2 follows his story as he is now a teenager/young adult. The upcoming episodes will adapt the 10th volume of the Rifujin na Magonote light novel series, which mainly focuses on the Newlyweds arc.
8 – By your side
On Your Side will debut in anime in Spring 2024. The story follows Hotaru Hinase, a first-year high school student. She witnesses the chaotic breakup of model student Hananoi and finds him sitting alone in the snow. Out of compassion, she shelters him under her umbrella.
But this harmless gesture has serious repercussions, since he appears the next day in Hotaru’s class to ask her to go out with him. After experiencing rejection, Hananoi stays by his side and does everything possible to please him. Hotaru’s resolve will begin to waver as she learns more about him.
7 – Konosuba: God’s blessing on this wonderful world! – saison 3
Konosuba returns for a third season this spring. The story follows Kazuma Satou, reincarnated after “saving” the life of a young girl. However, instead of the typical Isekai fantasy story, Kazuma becomes a rather average adventurer.
He uses his intelligence and especially his luck to progress towards his true goal: defeating the Demon King. Fans will once again see his gang getting into all kinds of crazy misadventures.
6 – Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture
The classic Japanese animation will return, not on the small screen, but on the big web! The mecha series will indeed offer the film Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture in Japanese theaters. This is the first part of a series of four feature films, following the brothers Rozé and Ash.
The film will feature the usual Code Geass violence: the trailer presenting this first part is as bloody as it is intriguing. Finally, it is good to note that Code Geass: Rozé of the Recapture is an original story.
5 – Trapezium
Produced by Aniplex, this upcoming film is the work of famous animation studio CloverWorks. It depicts the story of Yuu Azuma, a high school student who aspires to become an idol. To make her dream come true, she establishes four rules that she must follow to the letter.
She won’t use social media, won’t have a boyfriend, won’t stand out at school, and she will make friends with beautiful girls from the north, south, east and from West. This feature film will be released on May 10, 2024 in Japanese theaters.
4 – Black Butler: Public School Edition
The Black Butler anime returns with new episodes this spring, and will cover the Public School Arc. We are talking here about the seventh arc of the manga, going from chapters 67 to 85 in volumes 14 to 18.
The story will take place this time at the prestigious Weston College, which does not tolerate any government interference. Ciel signs up to investigate a mystery involving several students refusing to return home and cutting off all communication with their families.
3 – Blue Lock: Nagi Episode
Blue Lock is certainly one of the most popular Shonen series at the moment. Blue Lock: Episode Nagi is part of its universe, this time taking the format of a feature film to be released in Japanese theaters on April 19, 2024. The story is inspired by the spin-off series by Seishirou Nagi and Reo Mikage.
The trailer shows Nagi’s transformation from lazy high school student to promising soccer prodigy, ultimately leading him to enroll in Jinpachi Ego’s Blue Lock program, whose goal couldn’t be clearer: find the best striker possible!
2 – My Hero Academia – saison 7
The heroes of My Hero Academia return for a seventh season in April 2024. We will therefore continue the final act by approaching its next phase: the students of Yuei will have to prepare for a final battle, the one that will settle everything for good.
Since the start of the War Against Villains, Japan has faced one tragedy after another as the once safe society crumbles. The endgame is still ongoing in the My Hero Academia manga, so there’s no telling how far the anime will go. But one thing is certain: the action scenes will be epic!
1 – Demon Slayer – season 4
Certainly the most anticipated anime on this list: the fourth season of Demon Slayer will begin in April 2024. This time it is the Hashira training arc that will be adapted, i.e. the last phase before the big final battle against the demons.
Season 4 would be the final season of Demon Slayer, which is then expected to turn into a trilogy of films. Tanjiro and company will then benefit from the training of the pillars – or hashiras -, with the aim of improving before what awaits all of the Slayers.
