In the vibrant world of Minecraft, mob votes once sparked enthusiasm among players as they selected new creatures to enhance their gaming experience. Though this tradition has since fallen out of favor, with Mojang moving away from this concept, the rich history of exciting yet rejected mobs remains a treasure trove for fans. It’s high time for the Mojang team to revisit these forgotten designs and consider integrating them into the game. Below, I present five of the most intriguing rejected mobs I believe deserve a second chance in Minecraft.
Note:
We are not including mobs that are confirmed to never be added to the game, as well as biome vote mobs which are planned to arrive at some point.
1. Copper Golem
- Origin: Mob Vote 2021
Among the unique candidates presented during the Mob Votes, the Copper Golem stands out for its innovative features. This charming entity was designed to oxidize over time, ultimately transforming into statues that would add a decorative touch to players’ worlds. While remaining mobile, these golems would randomly activate copper buttons, introducing an element of surprise to redstone contraptions.
Players had the ability to craft their own Copper Golem using copper ingots, which added a personal touch to its allure. Although it lost to the Allay, the Copper Golem still holds a special place in the hearts of many Minecraft enthusiasts.
2. Moobloom
- Origin: Mob Vote 2020
The Moobloom was envisioned as an enchanting cow variant adorned with vibrant flowers sprouting from its back. Designed to inhabit flower forests, this mob would have simply added a splash of beauty to these already picturesque biomes.
While it might lack practicality within the game mechanics, the aesthetic appeal of the Moobloom has captured the imagination of many. Its inclusion would undoubtedly elevate the visual charm of Minecraft’s landscapes.
3. Iceologer
- Origin: Mob Vote 2020
Possibly the coolest contender ever rejected, the Iceologer was a hostile illager designed to spawn atop mountainous terrain. Capable of attacking players with icy projectiles, this mob would have posed an exciting new challenge, especially when navigating through powder snow.
The Iceologer could have greatly enriched the combat experience, enhancing both adventure maps and mini-games. Unfortunately, it fell short against the Glow Squid in the voting process.
4. Tuff Golem
- Origin: Mob Vote 2022
The Tuff Golem, another intriguing golem concept, lost its opportunity to join the game when it was overshadowed by the Sniffer. This idle mob resembled a statue but had the ability to move and hold items. It would have been perfect for art exhibitions and could have added an element of life to various builds.
5. Crab
- Origin: Mob Vote 2023
The Crab, the most recent rejected candidate, lost out to the Armadillo in the 2023 Mob Vote. This creature was set to inhabit mangrove swamps and featured a large claw. Players could have utilized this claw to place blocks from an extended distance, enhancing building possibilities.
Interestingly, the functionality envisioned for the Crab has since been replicated through an attribute command in the game. As a result, the Crab may never find its way into Minecraft, but its concept remains compelling nonetheless.
These five fascinating creatures represent just a glimpse of the potential that exists within the rejected Mob Votes of Minecraft. If your favorite mob candidate isn’t mentioned here, feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.
