Top Contaminated Crops and Acid Farming Strategies in Once Human

Top Contaminated Crops and Acid Farming Strategies in Once Human

Have you ever found yourself lacking essential materials at the most inconvenient times? If you’ve played Once Human, this scenario is all too familiar. Fortunately, there’s a solution: establishing a nearly self-sufficient acid farm! This setup will ensure a steady stream of resources, allowing you to focus your efforts on exploring the extensive wastelands. In this guide, we’ll explore the locations of contaminated plants, highlight the most productive crops, and provide you with tips for building a successful acid farm.

Best Contaminated Crop and How to Obtain It

The age-old adage, “something is better than nothing,” rings especially true with contaminated crops. As you embark on your farming journey, your primary goal will be to gather as many Contaminated Plant Seeds as possible. While seed drops in the wild can be unpredictable, maximizing your search in Stardust Polluted areas, particularly around the lakefront of Chalk Peak in the northwestern section of the map, is the best strategy.

Once your farming system is operational, the top choice for crop production is undoubtedly Contaminated Aloe Vera. Its impressive crop-to-acid ratio outperforms other contaminated plants—requiring only 2 Aloe Vera to generate 1 Acid, as opposed to 3 from other options. However, keep in mind that Contaminated Aloe Vera has a specific irrigation requirement, needing a range of 60-90 instead of the typical 50-100. This challenge is manageable with the right setup, which we will discuss shortly.

Optimal Acid Farm Setup

To construct an efficient acid farm, you need to utilize your Territory’s vertical space effectively, as horizontal land is often limited. It is crucial that your farm is tailored to the specific needs of Contaminated Crops, which thrive in low light and high irrigation settings. Before proceeding with the construction, let’s outline the materials required for a successful setup.

Materials Needed for Your Acid Farm

  • 1/4 Wood Ceiling / Wood Ceiling: 1/4 Wood Ceilings allow for more precise wall placements, promoting compact builds—ideal for maximizing space. For a more casual farming experience, traditional Wood Ceilings provide ease of construction.
  • 1/8 Wood Wall: These are essential for creating the floors within your acid farm tower.
  • Walls and Ceilings: Choose materials that will enclose the area, blocking natural light and creating a controlled environment for your crops.
  • Loamy Soil / Planter Box: Loamy Soil is a space-efficient option that yields more crops overall, albeit with slower growth. If speed is your priority, Planter Boxes may be more beneficial.
  • Irrigation Tower: An enclosed farm requires an Irrigation Facility to keep your plants watered, crucial for maintaining overall efficiency.
  • Water Tank: A Water Tank acts as the water source for your Irrigation Tower.
  • Water Pump (optional): Deploy a Water Pump if your Water Tank is positioned below the Irrigation Facility to ensure effective water movement.
  • A Power Source (minimum 3W): You will need at least 3W of power; 2W for the Irrigation Facility and 1W if utilizing a Water Pump.
  • Isolated Securement Unit: This is where you’ll manage your Growshroom’s seed and fertilizer distribution, keeping your farm in optimal condition.
  • Growshroom Deviant: Your Growshroom functions as the operational heart of the farm, responsible for planting and maintaining crops.
  • Brewing Barrel: This is where your Acid production occurs.

Step-by-Step Guide to Constructing Your Acid Farm

  1. Determine Your Farm’s Size: Decide on the size. For dedicated players, consider building a compact shed specifically tailored for the acid farm, as your Growshroom will manage the plants without you needing direct access.
  2. Establish the Base Structure: Construct at least two 1/8 Wood Walls centrally or along the edges of your designated area. Fill this frame with your selected soil.
  3. Build Upwards: Use ceiling tiles to create additional floors, repeating the previous steps until you reach the second-to-last floor. Note: Higher farms experience delays in irrigation; hence, maintaining the Water Tank is essential for efficiency.

  1. Install the Irrigation Tower: Position the Irrigation Tower at the center of the top floor, constructing the final “half” level around it.
  2. Connect Power and Water: Link the Irrigation Tower to a power source. If the Tower is situated above the Water Tank, use a Water Pump to create a connection to it. Otherwise, direct links to the Water Tank can utilize gravity. Ensure your Water Tank is filled for operation!
  3. Prepare the Growshroom: Place your Growshroom within the Isolated Securement Unit. Assign it responsibilities for planting Contaminated Crops and applying fertilizers. Fertilizer Options:
    • Breeding Boost for increased seed yield
    • Yield Boost for improved crop returns over time
    • Growth Boost for faster growth cycles, though Yield Boost is generally preferable for long-term efficiency.

Once the crops mature, your Growshroom will handle the harvesting.

  4. Produce the Acid: Utilize the Brewing Barrel to transform Contaminated Crops into Acid.

Your Acid Farm is now operational and will help ensure a consistent supply of essential resources!
