Top Factory Base Designs and Ideal Locations in Satisfactory

Tired of your factory wasting resources while scarcely producing anything in Satisfactory? You’ve come to the right place.

In Satisfactory, creating an efficient factory can mean the difference between generating endless supplies or struggling with production. After all, you wouldn’t want your factory to be marooned in a remote area without nearby resources or fuel.

This guide will provide useful tips, layouts, and optimal locations to ensure your Satisfactory factory operates like a well-oiled machine.

Tips for Choosing the Best Factory Layout and Location

Here are crucial recommendations for building your factory in Satisfactory:

  • Always build close to resource nodes to reduce transportation time. For water-based structures like refineries, be near water sources.
  • Choose a location with ample room to expand, such as open fields or coastal areas. A scenic view is a plus!
  • Begin by placing machines, then focus on belts. Implement manifolds to evenly distribute materials and maintain modular layouts by grouping similar processes. Remember to leave extra space, as you’ll likely need more than anticipated.
  • Utilize stacked belts, place splitters at corners, and employ conveyor floor holes to transfer items between levels.
  • If logging out, leave signs and label everything so you can recall your tasks later.
  • Strive to find the flattest terrain. If necessary, use explosives, a chainsaw, and foundations to even out the surface.

Best Iron, Copper, or Ore Factory Layout

  1. Start with a 9×5 platform.
  2. Place four Smelters in the second row. Set these to produce the desired ingots, such as iron or copper ingots.
  3. Behind each Smelter, add Splitters. Use a Mark 2 Belt for the belt between the Splitters in the fourth and fifth columns to manage increased throughput.
  4. In the third row (in front of the first Smelter), add another Splitter.
  5. On the fourth row, position five Constructors (one in each column). The first two constructors should connect to the Splitter, while the remaining three will be connected directly to the Smelters. Set the first two to create iron rods or equivalent products, and the last three to produce iron plates or equivalent items.
  6. From here, personalize based on the ore using Splitters, Mergers, and Constructors to refine your products.
  7. Once satisfied, attach Storage Containers, connect everything to power, and link the iron ore supply using a Mark 2 Belt.

Best Factory Location to Farm Ores

The ideal factory location is determined by the ore you intend to utilize as your primary resource. For iron or copper factories, the best location is the Dune Desert in the northeast corner of the map, where the highest concentration of those ores is found.

For a coal factory, aim for the Middle West or Middle East of the map, where you’ll find all the Pure Coal nodes. Always establish your factory close to the best resource locations for each type of ore.

Best Concrete Factory Layout

  1. Add a 3×5 area in your factory for this layout.
  2. Place three Constructors in row 2, one in each column.
  3. In row 1, column 2, introduce a Splitter and connect it to all three Constructors.
  4. Set all Constructors to produce concrete.
  5. Add a Merger in row 3, in front of the second Constructor, and connect all Constructors to it.
  6. Introduce a Storage Container in front of the Merger and connect everything together with belts.
  7. Attach power to the system and link the belt to your limestone source.

Best Factory Location to Produce Concrete

The prime location for a Concrete factory is the Rocky Desert, located northwest of the map, where you will find the largest concentration of Limestone used for Concrete production.

  1. Set down four Smelters and add a manifold Splitter line in front of them.
  2. Utilize a Mark 2 belt between the third and fourth Splitters to manage increased output, and configure all Smelters to produce Iron Ingots.
  3. In row 3, introduce a Splitter in front of the first Smelter. Then, add five Constructors in row 4, one in each column. Connect a Splitter to the first two Constructors to produce Iron Rods. Link the remaining three Smelters directly to the last three Constructors for Iron Plates.
  4. Insert a Merger in row 5, in front of the second Constructor, connecting the first two Constructors to it. Add another Merger in front of the fourth Constructor, linking the last three Constructors.
  5. Add a Splitter in front of the Merger in row 6. In row 7, position three Constructors in columns 1-3 and connect them to the Splitter. Configure these Constructors to produce Screws. Set a Splitter in front of the center Constructor and a Merger in front of the other two, aiming their outputs forward. Connect them accordingly.
  6. Introduce the first Assembler so its first conveyor hole aligns with the lower Merger. Position the second Assembler next to it, aligning its second conveyor hole with the same Merger. Connect the lower Merger to the first Assembler and the other Merger to the second Assembler. Place a Splitter above each Merger with entrances facing right, then belt them into the Assemblers.
  7. Bring the Iron Plate line from the lower Merger up, connecting it two notches from the Splitter. Merge output from both Assemblers and place a Storage Container in front of the final Merger, configuring both Assemblers to produce Reinforced Iron Plates.
  8. Connect power to all machines and link the initial Splitter to your Iron Ore belt.

Best Reinforced Iron Plates Factory Location

The optimal location for a Reinforced Iron Plates factory is the Dune Desert in the northeast corner of the map, celebrated for its high Iron concentration.

  1. Begin with an 8×5 platform and place three Foundries in row 2. Add a Splitter below each Foundry.
  2. Add three Splitters stacked next to the previous ones, ensuring the third Splitter’s entrance is from the left. Remove the bottom two Splitters.
  3. Utilize conveyor lifts between the Splitters and Foundries.
  4. Configure Foundries for Steel Ingots, underclocking the third Foundry to 30 Steel Ingots per minute. Place a Merger in front of the first Foundry, with a Splitter and Merger in front of the second and third Foundries.
  5. Use Mark 1 belts to connect Splitters and Merger outputs, and connect Constructors to the Merger and Splitters.
  6. Set Constructors in front of the Merger, directing them to produce Steel Beams and Steel Pipes with additional Merger in front of the second Constructor, leading to Storage Containers.
  7. Add two Storage Containers and connect them from the Constructors and Merger.
  8. Establish power connections and link the ore lines.

Best Steel Factory Location

The most suitable site for a Steel factory is the Dune Desert in the northeast, well-known for its rich Iron deposits.

With your knowledge of building an excellent factory, it’s time to showcase your creation: invite friends to explore your work on a dedicated server or embark on a hunt to locate all the hard drives in the game.
