Top Modules and Cannons for Optimizing Your Ship in Rogue Waters

To thrive in the treacherous waters of Rogue Waters, the configuration of your ship is essential for achieving success. The right blend of modules and cannons can significantly influence your performance in both naval and ship skirmishes. In this comprehensive guide, discover some of the top modules to enhance your crew’s survival, as well as the formidable cannons that can devastate enemy vessels.

Optimal Modules for Your Ship in Rogue Waters

Outfitting your ship with modules that enhance your crew’s health and mobility is one of the most effective tactics in Rogue Waters, particularly in challenging encounters. Additional health points increase your crew’s endurance, allowing them to withstand more damage while remaining in battle longer. This becomes particularly vital when contending with larger enemy crews capable of overwhelming you with sheer numbers. A crew with augmented HP provides you more opportunities to strategize and can withstand some errors without losing critical specialists too early in the fray.

However, boosting defense isn’t the only aspect to consider—enhanced mobility is a critical advantage during combat. Increased movement distance allows your crew to position themselves strategically at the beginning of a ship battle, potentially lunging right into enemy ranks for quicker attacks. In a game where positioning is paramount, the ability to maneuver freely transforms your crew into a formidable force on the battlefield.

While I focus primarily on HP and Movement modules, the table below showcases an array of modules I have effectively utilized in my gameplay. These options can fortify your crew, enhance specific specialists, and more.

Top Cannons for Your Ship in Rogue Waters

In the realm of naval confrontations within Rogue Waters, selecting the appropriate cannons for your ship can be the deciding factor between triumph and defeat. Steer clear of cannons with a damage range beginning at zero. While they might appear appealing due to their higher potential damage, their likelihood of misfiring is much greater. Misfires don’t damage your ship but deplete valuable Command Points, which could otherwise be allocated to more dependable cannons. Always choose cannons with a damage range commencing at one. Even if the damage output is lower, the assurance of delivering consistent damage proves far more valuable than risking it with unreliable cannons.

Another exciting aspect of the game is looting cannons from defeated enemy vessels. You can determine which cannon you’ll acquire by hovering over a raid map target before entering combat, making it beneficial to plan ahead if you seek new artillery. Cannons are also available for purchase at select ports, increasing your options for customizing your arsenal. To equip more cannons at the beginning of a raid, ensure you unlock the necessary upgrades in your Workshop.

Strategies for Utilizing Your Cannons in Sea Battles

Cannons are only operational during sea engagements—this occurs when you and your opponent are still on your ships, exchanging cannon fire over three turns. Cannons can inflict damage on enemy cannons, disrupt modules, and even eliminate crew members before boarding their ship.

Having difficulty inflicting substantial damage during sea confrontations? Consider these tips:

  1. Focus on targeting formidable enemy cannons. Always prioritize enemy cannons that appear capable of delivering significant damage to your crew. Eliminating these threats early can help avert crippling hits later on.
  2. Include at least two cannons that can target enemy cannons. Ensure you have a minimum of two cannons specifically designed to destroy enemy cannons. This strategy provides an advantage in dismantling their firepower before they strike.
  3. Fill the remaining slots with crew and module-targeting cannons. Once you’ve secured a couple of cannon-targeting cannons, concentrate on the rest of your arsenal with ones that target enemy ship modules and crew (or a combination of modules, crew, and cannons!).
  4. Utilize specialized cannons for optimal impact. While the ideal cannons can attack all targets—cannons, modules, and crew—many of the powerful cannons tend to specialize in one domain. For instance, the Shipwrecker III is designed solely for module targeting, so be aware of each cannon’s strengths.
  5. Eliminate enemy HP-boosting modules. Keep a lookout for enemy modules providing additional HP to their crew. Target these for destruction as soon as possible to simplify the remainder of the battle.
  6. Aim for bombers and weapons users amongst the enemy crew. Prioritize the elimination of bombers and gun-armed crew members before facing them in hand-to-hand combat. Removing these threats early will enhance your crew’s performance in melee engagements.
  7. Be mindful of your Command Points. Avoid squandering Command Points on unreliable cannons that frequently misfire, especially those with a damage range beginning at zero. It’s smarter to allocate your points to dependable cannons that ensure at least some damage.
