Top Played Games on Steam Deck in April

The top 20 most popular games on the Steam Deck for April have been announced, with the Fallout franchise dominating the list.

With the start of a new month comes the anticipation of discovering the most popular Steam Deck games being played by gamers. OnDeck, the official social media channel for Steam Deck, has recently unveiled the Top 20 Steam Deck games of April 2024, and it seems that one beloved franchise has dominated the list. Four titles from the Fallout franchise have secured spots on the Top 20, proving its enduring popularity even without a new mainline game

According to the official Fallout Twitter/X page, Fallout 76 saw its peak popularity online with one million users playing in a single day. Additionally, an additional five million players enjoyed their adventures across the franchise’s titles in the wasteland.

It is not unexpected that Fallout’s resurgence has also reached the Steam Deck. The most recent Top 20 Steam Deck games ranking showed that owners of the device have been venturing into the post-apocalyptic worlds of Fallout 4, Fallout: New Vegas, Fallout 76, and Fallout 3 – Game of the Year Edition. Despite its efforts, Fallout 4 was unable to surpass Stardew Valley as the most-played game on the Steam Deck in April. Nevertheless, the fact that an almost decade-year-old game claimed the second spot in terms of hours played is still quite noteworthy.

The next-generation update for Fallout 4 resulted in a multitude of problems for owners of the Steam Deck, particularly those with a Steam Deck OLED. These issues included the removal of the Bethesda game launcher, which previously enabled players to adjust the game’s graphics settings. This could have potentially prevented Stardew Valley from surpassing Fallout 4 in popularity.

In April, Fallout 76 players were able to enjoy a free play week from April 11 to 18, including on Steam, making it a more enjoyable month for fans of the online RPG.

Fallout 4 has consistently been featured on the Top 20 Steam Deck games list, with its highest ranking being 18th place in March. What sets this month’s list apart is the inclusion of not just one, but four games from the Fallout series.
