ChoA, the former lead singer of the once-popular girl group AOA, made an appearance on the personal show of Running Man’s oldest member, Ji Suk Jin, to open up about her personal life. During the show, the former idol opened up about the challenges she encountered after departing from AOA.
Despite her desire to venture out on her own, ChoA was unable to do so due to her mental exhaustion at the time. The singer confessed that the barrage of negative comments had deeply affected her, to the point where she was unable to even leave her bed for three years.
After recovering, ChoA gradually regained her balance and resumed her work as a content creator on YouTube. Presently, her YouTube channel has amassed 420,000 subscribers. In fact, within just a month of launching the channel, she had already accumulated 300,000 followers, which served as a great source of motivation for her to keep going.
The former idol made a noteworthy revelation about the income of a YouTuber, stating, “I believe I am earning more now than when I was a member of AOA.”This statement surprised Ji Suk Jin, considering AOA’s success with multiple hit songs. However, ChoA clarified, “I didn’t receive a substantial payment during my time with AOA, especially since I left before the group became profitable for the company.”
Despite AOA’s continued success in the Korean entertainment industry during her time with the group, ChoA’s revelations came as a surprise to many netizens. Her distinct vocals were prominently featured in numerous hit songs under AOA’s name, including “Miniskirt,””Like A Cat,””Heart Attack,””Good Luck,”and “Excuse Me.”

Later, on a show, she disclosed the reason for her departure from the group. The idol explained, “When I was actively involved with the group, I didn’t have much time to sleep. Therefore, during this break, I have been catching up on sleep and also enjoying the freedom to travel, eat, and rest, which I never had the chance to do before.”
After admitting that she left AOA due to struggles with mental health and intense pressure, ChoA expressed her decision to prioritize self-care by halting all activities. Despite being a naturally positive person, she felt overwhelmed and drained due to the constant pressure and lack of rest. As her mental state deteriorated, she would reflect while washing her face and feel that she was not someone people could love.
