The Jackal PDW was immediately recognized as the top-performing SMG during the Black Ops 6 Closed Beta. Despite its dominance in most lobbies during the first weekend, Treyarch is already prepared to implement nerfs.
The moment the initial Black Ops 6 Beta weekend launched, it became evident which weapons were the most effective. Although the AMES 85 Assault Rifle dominated its category, the Jackal PDW SMG stood out as the top choice in its class and the most powerful gun in the entire game.
Despite the Jackal’s lightning-quick TTK and BO6’s new Omnimovement, which made it the most popular choice during the Closed Beta, Treyarch has intervened to curb its dominance by imposing restrictions on the attachments that can be used. This move was necessary as the Jackal was being used by almost everyone in some capacity.
The Jackal will be toned down from its previous state when the Open Beta begins on September 6 at 10 AM PT. This change will take effect from the first weekend.
Watch for full patch notes before Weekend 2 kicks off for all the details on what’s new! See you bright and early.

Thankfully, it appears that the Jackal’s rule is coming to an end. In a September 5 statement, Treyarch suggested taking a break from using the SMG and stated that it has been adjusted for Weekend 2.
Clearly, the specific details of the balance adjustments are currently unknown, but we can expect to find out all the specifics when the patch notes are released on September 6. These adjustments could range from changes to individual attachments to a potential decrease in overall TTK to bring it in line with the other weapons in the game.
In the Closed Beta, players can now grind up to level 30, which has allowed us to introduce a variety of new weapons. One of these is the Tanto. 22 SMG, which may give the Jackal a run for its money.
Despite causing fear and chaos, the Jackal is not known to have the top performance in every category. To the community’s astonishment, the C9 has a quicker time to kill, leaving the possibility for the starting SMG to cause more trouble in the upcoming days.
