Cardi B Opens Up About a Heartbreaking TikTok Comment

Despite her fierce musical energy, Cardi B, one of the biggest names in rap currently, is not immune to receiving mean comments online.

With over 26.1M followers on her channel alone, rapper Cardi B is a familiar face on TikTok. As a result, she has received numerous comments from fans, ranging from supportive to critical.

During a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Cardi shared that there are certain comments that deeply bother her, especially when they question her dedication to her music. She even recounted one specific comment that brought her to tears.

“Just like the day before, I was browsing through TikTok when a girl’s comment brought me to tears,”she recounted. “She told me, ‘You should just stick to being an influencer. You were just pretending to be a rapper. You don’t take it seriously, that’s why you haven’t released any music.’”

The American songwriter clarified that she has a serious approach to her music and will only release a new track if she deems it to be flawlessly perfect, in her own opinion.

My dedication to my music is so strong that I am hesitant to release it unless it meets my high standards. If the song does not sound perfect to my ear, with every word pronounced correctly and the beat and lyrics balanced, I do not feel comfortable sharing it with the public.

Despite the hurtful nature of the comment that made her cry, Cardi was not pleased with it and expressed her disapproval.

“She expressed her hurt when someone devalues the effort she puts in by comparing it to mindlessly watching Netflix all day, saying it feels like a slap in the face.”

Regrettably, it seems that fans will have to be patient before they can hear any new music from her. Despite initial expectations for her sophomore album to be released in 2024, a tweet that has since been deleted revealed that the album will not be coming as soon as originally thought.

“Regardless, there won’t be an album released this year. I am determined to take a break and enjoy my summer by cancelling any commitments I have made for features and focusing on traveling and relaxation,”she stated.

Until then, it seems that fans will have no choice but to continuously play her newly-released ‘Like What (Freestyle)’ track.
