Despite Chaeyoung’s complaints about fromis_9’s lack of activities, HYBE and Pledis received widespread criticism for allegedly “neglecting”the group.
On May 7, Lee Chaeyoung vented her frustrations about the group’s prolonged break and lack of activity on Weverse.
After Chaeyoung’s live broadcast, her remark quickly spread on numerous online platforms and caused a heated debate about the irresponsibility of their agency, HYBE and Pledis.
On X, fans of fromis_9 (known as flovers) organized an online protest using the hashtags “#fromis_9DeserveBetter”and “#PLEDIS_TREAT_FROMIS_BETTER,”and directed their message to HYBE and its subsidiary, Pledis Entertainment.

Through X, they expressed their desire for the girl group to be treated with fairness and provided with the appropriate platform, promotion, releases, and opportunities that they rightfully deserve.
Allegations Against HYBE and Pledis for Neglecting Their Girl Group
As the video with the remark went viral, netizens started expressing their emotions through both sad and angry reactions. Their response showed that they understood and shared the regret felt by fromis_9 for their extended break.
Ever since their first full-length album, “Unlock My World,”was released in June of last year, the group has not been active for almost a full year.
Despite the anticipation of fans, Pledis did not gift the first full album to flovers and fromis_9. Instead, they had to wait a considerable amount of time, just like they did for the previous album “from our Memento Box,”which was released a year before.
Despite lacking a comeback, they have also not engaged in many international activities such as debuting in Japan, touring, holding solo concerts, or fan meetings. This has made it challenging for them to grow their presence in the global market.

Despite fromis_9’s popularity in many foreign countries, fans have been expressing dissatisfaction with the lack of content and poor quality subtitles. This can be frustrating for those who are eager to become fans and support the group.
Despite having great potential to become a top-tier girl group, fans expressed worries that fromis_9 would meet the same fate as PRISTIN. This concern stemmed from PRISTIN’s unfortunate disbandment after only 2 years and 2 months, which was due to a similar hiatus issue.

Despite bringing a large sum of money, flovers criticized Pledis for not giving fromis_9 the treatment they deserved, particularly in 2021.
Despite being affiliated with HYBE, fromis_9 did not escape the criticism of fans who accused the company of neglecting the group. Unlike other girl groups under the label such as LE SSERAFIM, NewJeans, and ILLIT, fromis_9 was not given the same level of promotion and was not even mentioned in HYBE’s plans for the future.
