Han Chae-young, the actress renowned for her role in Boys Over Flowers, has recently ignited controversy on Chinese social media due to her participation in livestream sales events. Once hailed as the “most beautiful woman”in the highly popular series, her recent appearances have elicited mixed reactions from viewers.

Audiences have pointed out that Han appears significantly different during the livestreams compared to her previous public presence. Many noted a stiffness in her facial expressions, leading to speculation about possible cosmetic enhancements. Comments on Weibo suggested that she was overly reliant on beauty filters, which seemed to distort her natural features and resulted in an unnaturally small chin.

Moreover, some viewers expressed concerns about her speaking ability, observing that she only opened her mouth slightly during conversations. This led to theories that her recent cosmetic fillers around her smile lines may have impacted her ability to express herself naturally.
In addition to her appearance, Han Chae-young faced criticism over her engagement during the livestream events. Viewers noted that much of the product presentation was conducted by her assistant in Mandarin, with Han contributing little beyond reading a script. Notably, her streams lasted around 30 minutes—considerably shorter than those of local influencers, prompting dissatisfaction from the audience and labeling her performance as “unprofessional.”

The actress’s promotion of skincare products has also left viewers questioning her endorsement credibility, as some identified apparent cosmetic work that seemed at odds with the products she was selling.

Debuting in 2000, Han Chae-young gained initial fame through her role in Autumn in My Heart and solidified her status with Sassy Girl Chun-hyang (2005).Her brief yet memorable cameo as Min Seo-hyun in Boys Over Flowers (2009) earned her lasting recognition as “the most beautiful woman in that series.” Often referred to as Korea’s “Barbie doll, ”she has starred in numerous dramas including Only You, Ad Genius Lee Tae-baek, Pretty Man, and her latest role in Snow White’s Revenge (2024).

In her personal life, Han Chae-young tied the knot with businessman Choi Dong-joon in 2007 and is a proud mother to one son.
