The drama “Lovely Runner”by tvN, airing on Mondays and Tuesdays, centers around the story of Ryu Sun-jae (played by Byeon Woo-seok), a well-known idol who is believed to have died by suicide under questionable circumstances. It also follows Im Sol (played by Kim Hye-yoon), a devoted fan whose life is turned upside down by Sun-jae’s death. However, she is unexpectedly given the opportunity to travel back in time and prevent both of their tragic fates.
The show’s captivating love story and the on-screen chemistry between the main characters have caused its ratings to increase each week, making it a popular and relevant series.
Despite being well-received by many viewers, recent episodes have faced backlash from some for its use of comedic elements. These comedic scenes have been criticized for being uncomfortable and disruptive to the overall flow of the drama.
After the airing of episode 12 on May 7th, dissatisfaction noticeably increased. The scene in question featured Ryu Geun-deok (played by Kim Won-hae), father of Ryu Sun-jae, getting stuck in the bathroom and having to wash his hair with toilet water. This prompted viewers to leave comments like “It’s incredibly gross”and “Did this scene even add anything to the story?”Many viewers expressed that they were too disgusted to continue watching.
On the other hand, there were those who supported the humor, arguing that it appealed to older audiences or evoked nostalgia for the past.
