Fresh Allegations Resurface Against Actress Song Ha Yoon

The spotlight is once again shining on actress Song Ha Yoon as new claims of school bullying resurface, despite her sustained denials. This renewed scrutiny came to light during the broadcast of SBS’s Curious Stories Y on September 5, where allegations dating back over 20 years were revisited.

Best known for her performance in the popular drama Marry My Husband, Song has repeatedly insisted that these accusations are unfounded. Recently, she took legal action by filing a defamation lawsuit as well as an obstruction of business complaint against her primary accuser. In response, the accuser, known as Mr. Oh, has initiated a counter lawsuit seeking ₩10 billion (approximately USD 7.3 million), claiming that Song has failed to show any acknowledgment or remorse for her supposed past actions.

Mr. Oh, who currently resides in the United States, has asserted that in 2004 he endured over 90 minutes of physical abuse from Song during high school. He claims that this led to her being forcibly transferred to another school. Initially desiring a private apology, Mr. Oh now seeks symbolic compensation, feeling that Song’s public portrayal as a dedicated actress disregards her past behaviors.

However, there is a notable lack of evidence supporting Oh’s claims regarding a forced transfer. No records have been found to confirm this, and the school has opted not to provide any commentary on the matter. Furthermore, Song Ha Yoon’s representatives have consistently highlighted the absence of corroborating evidence, stating that the transfer was elective and aimed at allowing her to pursue acting, rather than a punitive measure.

In addition to Mr. Oh’s allegations, another individual, who chose to remain anonymous under the alias Kang Hyun-ah, appeared on the same broadcast, alleging that she too was the victim of bullying by Song and two classmates, resulting in injuries that necessitated a four-week medical recovery.

A legal expert has indicated that as these events occurred prior to the implementation of Korea’s 2012 school violence laws, formal records concerning disciplinary actions or forced transfers might not be available. Consequently, witness testimony has emerged as a crucial element in corroborating claims. Additionally, a new witness, Jeon Jun-hyuk, has come forward, claiming to have witnessed Song physically assaulting Mr. Oh after he allegedly insulted her.

As more conflicting narratives and fresh testimonies surface, the debate surrounding Song Ha Yoon’s alleged past remains complicated and unresolved. The public is now keenly observing how the actress will respond to these resurgent allegations.
