During her initial trip to Korea, Tori Kelly, an American singer-songwriter, expressed her thoughts on the experience.
As part of her “PURPLE WeIES”Asian leg world tour, Tori Kelly performed her first Korean concert, titled “Tori Kelly Live in Seoul,”at Myung Hwa Live Hall in Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul, on the 27th.
Originally planned for April 2020, her debut Korean concert was called off due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This year, she had her first opportunity to meet her Korean fans through this performance.
During a pre-concert written interview, Tori Kelly expressed her enthusiasm for the upcoming performance in Korea. She shared, “I’ve heard that Korean fans are incredible and I’ve been eagerly anticipating this show. I’m thrilled to finally have the opportunity to perform in Korea and I’m sure it will be a blast. I can’t wait to meet all the fans.”
When questioned about her preparations for her debut concert in Korea, she stated that she purposely did not plan anything in advance as she wanted to immerse herself in the culture and freely explore. However, she did have one item on her must-do list, which was to try out Korean barbecue. Following the concert, Tori Kelly shared a picture on social media of herself enjoying a barbecue meal at a restaurant in Seoul, capturing the interest of her fans.
Tori Kelly’s “PURPLE WeIES”tour is taking her to various countries in Asia, including Korea, to meet with music fans. In an interview, she was questioned about her focus during tour preparations and the intended message for her audience. She expressed, “My ultimate goal is for everyone to have an amazing time. Life can be challenging, but I want the concert attendees to have a fantastic experience and feel the love.”
During a recent interview, Tori Kelly discussed her wish to introduce herself as a “pop R&B soul artist who also writes and produces her own music”to those who may not be familiar with her. She acknowledged her fans as the main reason for her ongoing success in the music industry.
Kelly’s musical talents have garnered a loyal fanbase in Korea, with several K-pop stars openly expressing their admiration for her. Notably, Jungkook from BTS and Winter from Aespa have both covered her songs, and both Rise and Anton have expressed a desire to collaborate with her. Most recently, Kim Chaewon from Le Sserafim featured on Kelly’s track “Spruce.”
Kelly expressed her admiration for working with Kim Chaewon, remarking that the experience was incredible. She shared that the song was sent to Chaewon and he did an excellent job with it. She also expressed her desire to meet with him in person soon. She also found it surreal to see numerous talented K-pop artists covering her songs and hopes to collaborate with all of them in the future.
When inquired about potential collaborations in the K-pop industry, Kelly shared her admiration for BLACKPINK’s Rosé, stating, “I have a great fondness for Rosé from BLACKPINK.”She also mentioned, “I am a huge fan of K-pop music. It is incredibly enjoyable and ideal for dancing.”
