According to sources familiar with the situation, the Toronto Ultra have shifted their focus to another emerging SMG talent after Miami Heretics declined to sell José ‘ReeaL’ Fernández.
On September 22, reports emerged that Toronto Ultra was eyeing both Ben ‘Beans’ McMellon and ReeaL to finalize their roster for Call of Duty League (CDL) Black Ops 6.
However, Heretics firmly rejected the offer for their star player, despite the interest from parent company Misfits in facilitating the transaction.
Sources: The deal for Toronto Ultra to sign ReeaL has fallen through as they failed to reach an agreement with Heretics. The final Ultra offer was apparently in excess of $60,000. Toronto now working on a different player to replace Envoy. Confirmation soon, hopefully. pic.twitter.com/goKxaQogGH

ReeaL still has one year remaining on his contract, and with the addition of David ‘RenKoR’ Isern, Heretics anticipate he will play a significant role in their 2025 CDL season.
The buyout offered for ReeaL was reported to be an undisclosed amount exceeding $60,000, which was believed to be higher than what LA Thieves paid for Envoy, highlighting Ultra’s confidence in ReeaL as a potential game-changer for their roster.
Instead, the Canadian organization has shifted their attention to former LA Thieves standout Joe ‘JoeDeceives’ Romero. Joe reclaimed his place on the Thieves starting lineup this season, achieving 4th place at the CDL Champs and 2nd at the Esports World Cup, delivering exceptional performances throughout and establishing himself in the league.
This potential acquisition has gained momentum rapidly following the setback with ReeaL and could come to fruition sooner rather than later.
