Trader Joe’s Reintroduces Popular $2.99 Tote Bags for a Limited Time

That’s right, the popular Trader Joe’s tote bags that had customers lining up for hours to snag one have been restocked, but you’ll need to act quickly as they are only available for a limited time.

This year has seen some wild viral trends, with the Stanley Cup frenzy earlier in 2024 being among the most notable. However, closely following that was the incredible hype surrounding the Trader Joe’s mini tote bags, prompting customers to go to great lengths to obtain one.

The tote bags themselves may appear to be quite ordinary, resembling the chain’s traditional grocery store bags. They come in blue, green, and yellow, but it’s uncertain how extensive this restock will be.

In March, a surge of viral videos circulated on TikTok, illustrating shoppers waiting for hours to secure one of these highly sought-after totes. TikTok user Elinor documented her wait along with many other eager customers, captioning her video, ‘This was so scary but I’m aware I’m a part of the problem.’

Their overwhelming demand even sparked resale listings on eBay, with outrageous prices reaching as high as $999.99.

This surge in popularity led Trader Joe’s to comment, stating that these sales were “done without our approval or authorization and outside the controls of our quality-minded supply chain. To be clear, we neither condone nor support the reselling of our products and do all we can to stop the practice.”

Following the product’s re-release, numerous Reddit threads have emerged, showcasing the excitement among customers over their return.

“I went to the Chino Hills location at 5 pm to try to get a yellow one, and the line was wrapped around the block. I left empty-handed—I still need a yellow tote and can trade for a green or red,” shared one user.

Another customer noted, “I got 4 around 1:30 pm! They might have been distributing them in waves, or at least some stores were. A friend went earlier and they were sold out. At 1:30 I had no wait at all.”

One disappointed shopper recounted, “I visited the downtown Culver City location just after 8 am and stood in line for about 30 minutes. By the time I got to the register, they had run out of yellow.”

In addition to the tote bag trend, Starbucks has recently announced the return of their beloved slime drip cup, just in time for Halloween.
