Despite its reputation as one of the least enjoyable skills to train in Old School RuneScape, construction has become significantly easier with the recent quality-of-life update in OSRS.
The most recent update for Old School RuneScape, released on April 17, brought about several adjustments to Undead Pirates, the Wilderness, and Varlamore.
Nonetheless, it is a single, unassuming item in the patch notes (found here: https://secure.runescape.com/m=news/undead-pirates-tweaks-varlamore-cas–more?oldschool=1) that will hold the most significant consequences. Jagex has officially declared the removal of this restriction from its Third-Party Client guidelines.
- Any plugin that alters the menu choices for Construction, such as giving priority to build or remove options.
This implies that from now on, OSRS players have the ability to swap the ‘Build’ and ‘Remove’ options in Construction with ‘Walk Here’, resulting in the possibility of training with only left-clicks.
Before the update, players had to first right-click and select ‘Remove’, then right-click again and choose ‘Build’. While this may not be too bothersome for a few actions, it becomes tedious when repeated thousands of times on the journey to reach 99 Construction, putting strain on the wrist.
After the update, players can now easily build and remove any structure by simply left-clicking twice. This simplification of the Construction process makes it less demanding to train and may even increase XP rates for casual players who struggled with the previous system.
For now, this update will only be accessible to third-party clients such as Runelite. However, Jagex plans to implement it into the official OSRS client at a later date. In the meantime, players who use the official client or play on mobile devices are advised to utilize less strenuous training methods, such as participating in Mahogany Homes.
