Treyarch Responds to CoD Next Concerns with Promised Map and HUD Changes for Black Ops 6

Some enthusiasts of Black Ops 6 Zombies expressed their dissatisfaction following the CoD NEXT event. In response, Treyarch acknowledged the community’s concerns and revealed plans for several updates.

While fans initially praised the Liberty Falls cinematic trailer as showcasing a compelling new Zombies map, the official gameplay reveal at CoD NEXT on August 28 stirred worries that Black Ops 6 might diminish the game mode’s quality.

Critics of the gameplay pointed to the map’s design as lacking excitement and creativity. They argued that features like armor, the availability of loadouts from the outset of matches, and exfils appeared to favor a casual gaming experience over traditional challenges.

Additionally, players voiced their frustration regarding the heads-up display (HUD). Many felt that enemy health bars and various on-screen elements detracted from the overall immersion, although the HUD offers full customization options.

During the Call of Duty Podcast, Treyarch’s creative director Miles Leslie reassured fans, stating, “The Liberty Falls concept that was presented at Call of Duty Next was illustrative of ongoing development… the Zombies team is continuously refining Liberty Falls, enhancing its visual aesthetics to create a darker atmosphere than what was revealed earlier.”

Leslie also confirmed that “there are atmospheric elements in Liberty Falls that viewers did not witness during NEXT.”

In response to feedback about the Zombies mode being overly simplistic, Leslie elaborated, “Liberty Falls is designed to be a smaller, more casual experience in contrast to Terminus.”

Moreover, CharlieIntel reported that several HUD features in Zombies are set to receive modifications based on community insights, with official announcements coming soon before the Black Ops 6 release.

Regardless of whether these adjustments meet everyone’s expectations, players can opt to spend more time in Terminus. Additionally, the Call of Duty Podcast confirmed that another round-based Zombies map will be included in Black Ops 6 by year’s end, providing gamers with a further choice.
