The lawsuit between K-Pop sensation FIFTY FIFTY and their contract has gained a lot of media attention and has now reached a crucial point as the group gets ready to go to court.
Despite months of legal tactics and widespread conjecture, the Seoul Central District Court has officially announced that the initial court date for the legal case brought by ATTRAKT against former members Saena, Sio, Aran, and their parents will begin on August 29.
The legal action, which was first filed in December of last year, aims to obtain ₩13.0 billion KRW (equivalent to $9.41 million USD) in compensation from the ex-members and their relatives.
However, health issues were NOT the main reason FIFTY FIFTY filed the lawsuit.FIFTY FIFTY received a strange settlement statement from ATTRAKT that listed extensive expenses but no music revenue, only 25,000 KRW television revenue per member. The members discovered their music… pic.twitter.com/o0H7faVaa0

This legal feud has captured the attention of both supporters and professionals in the industry, making it one of the most significant contractual conflicts in recent K-Pop history.
Despite their rapid success with their first hit “Cupid,”which earned them a spot on the Billboard Hot 100 only 130 days after their debut, FIFTY FIFTY’s path took a sudden turn when they revealed their decision to temporarily pause their exclusive contract with ATTRAKT in June 2023.
At first, Keena was a part of the legal dispute, but eventually she decided to withdraw her appeal and rejoin ATTRAKT.
In light of the chaos, ATTRAKT has made progress by holding private auditions to add four new members to their group. They are determined to make a comeback with a new album set to be released in September.
The agency showed confidence in the group’s future, noting that it had been restructured into a five-member ensemble.
“We went through difficult times where we had to stop everything due to unfortunate events. We have been holding private auditions to find new members.
Fortunately, we were able to confirm four new members in April. The group will make start new as a five-member group including existing member Keena.”
The ongoing drama has provoked a variety of responses from online users, highlighting the intense level of scrutiny that celebrities in South Korea are subject to.
Despite having promising careers, the former members’ decision to pursue legal action was met with disappointment and skepticism from many who questioned their motives.
- “Please be ruined from generation to generation, you guys ㅋㅋㅋㅋ”
- “I was interested because of their good vocal tones, but why did they do that…”
- “The goose that lays the golden egg has cut its own belly”
- “You kicked away a bright future and chose this lawsuit ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ absurd”
- “Absurd”
- “Seriously, I don’t understand. Even if the lawsuit somehow ends, what next? Who will take them?”
- “I wanted to hear Aran’s voice with a good song ㅜㅜ….”
Despite the ambiguous future of FIFTY FIFTY, those who support the group’s original members remain hopeful and continue to admire their talents.
Even though the K-Pop industry is highly competitive, their prospects are still uncertain due to the looming legal proceedings.
