True Detective creator gets trashed after criticizing season 4

True Detective creator Nic Pizzolatto has been called “pathetic” after heavily criticizing Issa López’s season 4.

Season 4 of True Detective, subtitled Night Country, ended on February 19, providing a resolution to the puzzles raised throughout the six episodes. The fate of the Tsalal researchers, the murderer of Annie K or even the secrets behind the mine: spectators finally got answers in the sixth and final episode.

And it is clear that the series was hugely popular with its audience. Season 4 was already the most watched of True Detective at the time of episode 5, before the broadcast of its finale! The duo of Jodie Foster and Kali Reis to play investigators Liz Danvers and Evangeline Navarro clearly brought down the house.

However, amid the excitement caused by Night Country, there are still some disappointed people. It’s inevitable, however the least satisfied spectators this time have a luminary in their ranks: the creator of the first three seasons of True Detective, Nic Pizzolatto. And his comments may have offended the wrong people on social media.

If the publication has since been deleted, screenshots have been kept for posterity… and the showrunner was quickly described as “pathetic” for his action. The viewer’s post read: “I just want to send love to Nic Pizzolatto. I can’t imagine what it’s like to see his dialogues, which have become classics, being massacred and misused like they were last night.”

The publication goes on to get annoyed about an interview with showrunner Issa Lopez, who suggested that the characters in season 4 existed in the same universe as those in the first season: “It’s so insulting to call this True Detective.”

Overall, the viewer explains how the first season – which actually had an impact on critics and the public upon its release – is on another level than that of season 4 of True Detective. But the fan’s opinion is not so much what disturbed Internet users: it was the fact of Nic Pizzolatto sharing it.

The latter has found himself under fire since sharing the entire message on his Instagram page. The first criticism made of him is that of hypocrisy, and a desire to harm the showrunner Issa Lopez.

“I haven’t seen the new season of True Detective so I don’t have an opinion on that, but there must be more elegant ways to talk about a season that clearly made you money, ” posted a user on X/Twitter.

“It’s so pathetic lol.”

“Whether you loved or hated the finale of True Detective, one thing is indisputable: Nic Pizzolatto is on Instagram, and he reposts the stories of people who explain how Issa Lopez ruined the franchise, like a huge baby.”

Others are concerned about the filmmaker’s image, like this user on Reddit: “This season was really difficult but I would have liked Nic to simply take the path of wisdom in all of this. It doesn’t make him look good (I understand why he’s upset). I’m sure HBO doesn’t like him fanning the flames. We didn’t see George Lucas denigrate Rian Johnson.”

This isn’t the first time Nic Pizzolatto has shared his thoughts on season 4 of True Detective. At the time of the broadcast of the first episode, the showrunner had changed his bio on social networks, to specify: ” True Detective S1-3 (NOT Night Country)

In the meantime, the entirety of season 4 of True Detective is available on Prime Video’s Warner Pass.
