Tuesday’s Windows 11 April update introduces a lighter Search Box to the Taskbar

Windows 11 April Update is now available for versions 22H2 and 21H2. This is a monthly update for Windows 11 available to all qualified users. Windows 11 April Update version 22H2 includes build 22621.1555. (KB5025239). Learn more about the Windows 11 Update this month.

The new monthly update is typically published on the second Monday of each month. Microsoft has been regularly publishing updates every month. The OS preview version is released in the second half of the month, and the same modifications are also incorporated into the public build.

Therefore, the most recent Windows 11 22H2 April update incorporates modifications and enhancements to the March 28 preview build 22621.1485.

Changes include a lighter search window in the taskbar when Windows is in custom color mode, Microsoft Narrator reading drop-down lists in Excel, and new features in Microsoft Defender for Endpoint. Below are the Windows 11 update release notes for April 2023.

Improvements

This security update contains enhancements included in update KB5023778 (released March 28, 2023). When you install this Knowledge Base article:

  • This update addresses a compatibility issue. The issue occurs because of unsupported use of the registry.

If you have not installed the previous OS preview version, this update will include all other enhancements included in that build.

Depending on the version you are using, Windows 11 22H2 or Windows 11 21H2, you will obtain the most recent monthly update. To install the latest iteration, navigate to Settings > Windows Update.
