According to the Good Data Corporation, “Lovely Runner,”tvN’s Mon-Tue drama, maintained its top spot on the popularity chart in the second week of May, securing first place for the second week in a row. The drama continues to be highly favored by viewers in their 20s and 30s.
“Since its premiere on April 8th, “Lovely Runner”has consistently surpassed its own records for four weeks in a row. The drama’s lead actors Byun Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon have also maintained their positions at the top of the popularity chart for drama cast for two consecutive weeks, with actor Song Geon-hee, who portrays the second male lead, coming in at No.3.”
In the overall chart, “Queen of Tears”from tvN took the 5th spot with a total of 71,412 points earned over 8 weeks, while “Lovely Runner”climbed up to 9th place with 68,248 points after being on air for 5 weeks.
According to Good Data PD Won Soon-woo, the drama has garnered positive feedback for its moving direction, captivating plot, outstanding performance by Kim Hye-yoon, and impressive OSTs. The recent addition of Byun Woo-seok as a rising star has further intensified the excitement among netizens. The PD also suggested that if the focus of the story were to shift towards the main characters’ families and friends, it could potentially attract a larger male audience and achieve even greater popularity and viewership.
During this week, “The Atypical Family”by JTBC maintained its second place ranking on Good Data’s popularity chart. There was a notable rise of 53.6% compared to its first broadcast last week. Additionally, Chun Woo-hee and Jang Ki-yong were also listed on the chart for drama cast, ranking No.5 and No.6, respectively.
Despite being in third place, tvN’s “A Midnight Romance in Hagwon”has gained popularity, with lead actors Jung Ryeo-won and Wi Ha-joon ranking at No.4 and No.7, respectively, on the cast popularity chart. Other actors on the chart include “Frankly Speaking”stars Go Kyung-pyo and Kang Ha-na at No.8 and No.9, as well as “Beauty And Mr. Romantic”actress Lim Soo-hyang at No.10.
The top ranking dramas on the popularity chart were MBC’s “Chief Detective 1958” at No.4, JTBC’s “Frankly Speaking” at No.8, KBS2’s “Beauty and Mr. Romantic” , Disney+’s “Blood Free” , and SBS’s “The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” .
MBC’s “Chief Detective 1958″had an impressive start, achieving a 10.1% rating from its first episode. This was twice the rating of Kim Nam-joo and Cha Eun-woo’s drama “Wonderful World”. Nevertheless, Lee Je-hoon and Lee Dong-hwi did not fare well in the popularity chart for drama actors.
Despite its return for Season 2, SBS’s “The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection”was unable to capture the attention of viewers. The show’s ratings remain at a low 3%, and even main cast members such as Hwang Jung-eum, Lee Yoo-bi, and Uhm Ki-joon did not make it onto the actor popularity chart.
Despite tvN and JTBC dramas currently leading in ratings and popularity, “Chief Detective 1958” and “The Escape of the Seven: Resurrection” are nearing their conclusion. However, there is still anticipation for these two dramas to make a lasting impact in their final episodes.
