The Seoul World Cup Stadium hosted the “2024 Coupang Play Series”game between Team K-League and Tottenham Hotspur on July 31st.
During the halftime show, TWICE performed on stage, bringing an energetic vibe to the stadium. The members were dressed in sporty outfits, with their uniforms creatively revamped.
The footwear chosen by TWICE caught the attention of soccer fans. Both the members and their dancers were seen wearing soccer cleats.
To preserve the grass on the field, individuals chose to refrain from wearing high heels, resulting in this decision being made.
The turf of a soccer field is highly delicate and can be easily harmed by footwear with heels or spikes, particularly when vigorous dancing takes place. This could result in rapid deterioration of the field.
The players’ performance can be immediately impacted by any damage. Slippery or uneven turf can result in players slipping or changing the direction of the ball while passing.
Despite initial concerns about the performance on the field, TWICE’s careful consideration allowed the players to proceed with the match without any problems.
Despite the flawless performance, TWICE’s meticulous attention to detail truly elevated it to a “top-notch stage”, earning them showers of praise from their fans.
Some of the comments praised the members, saying things like “Their hearts are beautiful too”, “As expected from thoughtful idols”, and “So sensible”. Others also noted their considerate gesture of giving up high heels and how they looked even better in cleats. One person even declared that they were becoming a fan of TWICE from that day on.
Meanwhile, Tottenham emerged victorious with a 4-3 win against Team K-League in the match, largely due to Son Heung-min’s multiple goals. As a result, Son Heung-min was awarded the title of MVP for his exceptional performance.
Despite being part of Team K-League, Yang Min-hyuk (Gangwon) caught the attention with his speedy ball handling and precise shots, particularly after signing with Tottenham and becoming a potential Premier League player.
On August 3rd, Tottenham will take on Bayern Munich at the Seoul World Cup Stadium, a renowned German Bundesliga team where Kim Min-jae is currently playing.
