During the September 11th episode of MBC FM4U’s “Kim Shin-young’s Noon Song of Hope,” Tzuyu, who recently made her solo debut with the album “abouTZU,” was a guest on the show.
Tzuyu, born in 1999 and currently 25 years old, debuted as a member of the popular girl group TWICE in 2015. On September 6th, she launched her solo debut album, “abouTZU,” featuring six tracks, including the title song “Run Away.”
During the broadcast, Tzuyu was asked whether she had personally requested J. Y. Park to write the lyrics for “Run Away.” She expressed her gratitude, stating, “I was grateful that PD offered to write it for me.”
When Kim Shin-young inquired whether Tzuyu subscribed to J. Y. Park’s Bubble, Tzuyu humorously replied “No,” which elicited laughter from the audience.
Tzuyu shared her desire to collaborate with the K-pop group NMIXX, expressing admiration for their talents: “Our activities overlap, and the kids are just so cool.” When Kim Shin-young noted that Tzuyu referred to NMIXX members as “the kids,” Tzuyu laughed and corrected herself by saying, “The juniors.” This prompted Kim Shin-young to comment on Tzuyu’s journey, highlighting her growth and influence as the youngest member of TWICE and a senior figure in the K-pop industry.
On the topic of solo artist role models, Tzuyu cited Sunmi, explaining, “Her performances are so captivating that I want to keep watching. I’ve learned a lot about how to express charm from her.” She also mentioned that if she were to hold a solo concert, she would love to challenge herself with Sunmi’s song “Balloon in Love.”
