Twisters Director Lee Isaac Chung Reflects on Glen Powell’s Memorable Wet T-Shirt Scene: You’re Welcome

Despite becoming one of the most widely shared images from the new movie, Glen Powell’s wet t-shirt scene in Twisters was not originally planned from the start.

Undoubtedly, Twisters remains the biggest action movie of the year thus far. However, Powell’s confident walk in the rain was a scene that particularly resonated with the female audience – a moment that director Lee Isaac Chung stumbled upon unintentionally.

During a rainstorm, Tyler (Glen Powell) is leaving Kate’s house and steps outside in a white t-shirt and cowboy hat. He quickly becomes damp, creating a movie star moment that only further fuels the current Powell obsession.

The marketing team, clearly eager to capitalize on the moment, made use of the scene in the trailer, even though it may have been unintentional.

“Chung continued, reflecting on how funny it was that she later realized the obvious choice of putting Glen Powell in a white t-shirt in the rain to achieve a certain look. However, she clarified that this was not a deliberate plan on her part and assured, “Trust me, I’m not the most adventurous person.”

Despite the unpredictable nature of fate, Chung acknowledged that it played a significant role in bringing together all the elements to create the seductive scene in question in the movies.

“He added that at times, the cinematic Gods are simply smiling down upon you.”
