A Twitch streamer has shattered the Guinness World Record for “butt-hooping” during a live stream, but there’s a significant issue preventing her from gaining official recognition for the achievement.
Just days after former Call of Duty pro Doug ‘Censor’ Martin set a new pull-up world record, another Twitch sensation stepped forward to tackle a different challenge.
On September 14, Twitch streamer PineappleHoops set her sights on the record for “butt-hooping” by attempting a one-hour challenge during her streamathon.
Butt-hooping, often referred to as “booping,” is the act of spinning a hula hoop around one’s waist, with the record measured based on the duration of continuous rotations.
In an impressive display, she not only surpassed the existing record but also beat the previous title holder by nearly ten minutes.
In March 2024, Andrea M, known as ‘hulamyhoop,’ shattered her own record for the “longest duration hula hooping on the bum” by achieving an astonishing 55 minutes and 4 seconds. This record-breaking video was subsequently shared by Guinness World Records on April 9.
Despite her impressive feat, PineappleHoops shared with her viewers that her achievement would not be officially recognized, as it wasn’t conducted under the necessary guidelines with Guinness.
“I beat the current world record today,” she stated. “It’s not official, because I haven’t set that up with Guinness or completed all the necessary paperwork. However, the world record is 55 minutes, and I did 65, so in my book, it’s official. World’s best butt right here.”
PineappleHoops has been honing her butt-hooping skills for quite some time. Back in 2023, she achieved a then-personal best of 22 minutes, showcasing her significant progress.
It will be interesting to see if the streamer reaches out to Guinness to arrange an official attempt to break the record now that she’s demonstrated her capability. Nevertheless, she might want to work on consistency with her performance times before committing to a formal record-breaking stream in the future.
