During a trip in Lisbon, Portugal, Twitch streamer ‘Yuggie’ was robbed. Fortunately, she was able to identify the thief even though he had gotten away with her €80.
As of June 2024, Yuggie is a popular IRL streamer on Twitch who is currently sharing her travels in Portugal with her followers.
While exploring Lisbon, the biggest city and capital of a European country, she chose to pause her sightseeing and record a video of herself standing in front of a castle.
Just as she stepped away from her camera, a man suddenly appeared and tried to steal Yuggie’s wallet. Fortunately, she was able to prevent him from getting away with it.
As Yuggie raced back to her stream, she could hear the man’s voice coming from out of frame, calling out, “Excuse me! Hey, my wallet!”
“As her astonished viewers witnessed the scene unfold in real-time, she exclaimed, “Wait, what are you doing?””Do not take my wallet!”she yelled in shock. “What the f*ck, man? He was pulling my wallet out of my bag.”
During her stream, Yuggie encountered the thief again and he asked her not to take his picture while they waited to cross a street.
Amidst the noise of traffic, his voice can be heard uttering, “Do not capture any photos.”
“I’m currently livestreaming,”she told him. “I’m in the middle of my livestream, as it’s part of my job.”
By switching the camera view from first-person to capture the man walking up to her, she caught the moment when he abruptly backed away, presumably realizing he was being recorded.
Despite the incident, Yuggie was not unscathed from the interaction. Later on, she stopped by a restaurant for a quick meal. However, upon receiving her bill, she discovered that the thief had taken €80 ($85 USD) from her.
Yuggie exclaimed, “I can’t believe this, my 80 Euro!”
After leaving the restaurant, she gave a full explanation of the situation, appearing surprised that he was able to steal her money so quickly. She had thought she caught him in the act and stopped him from robbing her.
Audience members are currently encouraging the streamer to present her live broadcast to the authorities as proof of the robbery, stating that she was fortunate to capture the perpetrator’s face on her stream.
Yuggie is not the only IRL streamer to have been robbed during a broadcast. In December 2023, a Twitch streamer was held at gunpoint and robbed while streaming live. The thieves searched through his pockets and ultimately took his streaming camera.
During that same month, a different streamer was live streaming his deliveries as a driver when he realized that his equipment had been stolen during a viral break-in that occurred in his car.
