During a charity livestream, ‘herokerrey’ joked about accidentally misspelling the name of the platform, Twitch. As a result, the platform changed their name.
Herokerrey is a partnered variety streamer and Just Dance player with a following of over four thousand on Twitch. Despite her full-time job in the tech industry, she streams part-time on the platform.
Kelley, also known by her real name Kerrey, began a charity stream for APAMSA (the Asian Pacific American Medical Student Association) on August 22nd.
In order to encourage donations from her viewers, Kelley made a unique offer – she would write their names on her body with a marker in exchange for a $5 contribution. However, she never could have predicted that one of the donors would be the very platform she was streaming on.
After fulfilling her promise, Kelley tried to write ‘Twitch’ on her forehead with a blue marker, but accidentally wrote ‘Twith’ instead. This happened after she had sent some money to her stream.
Despite acknowledging her mistake, Kelley couldn’t help but burst into laughter… but that was only the beginning of the ‘Twith’ saga.
Shortly thereafter, Twitch embraced the joke and modified their profile picture on Twitter/X to feature ‘Twith’ written in a font reminiscent of Kelley’s handwriting against a purple backdrop.
“She tweeted that she was shocked when Twitch donated to her charity stream last night, but was disappointed to realize she had misspelled their name.”
The company reassured, “Consider yourself lucky that it’s not a permanent tattoo. I have ‘amason’ permanently inked on my leg.”
Just be glad it’s not a permanent tattoo. I have “amason”tattooed on my leg. https://t.co/0zjVt2DfP9

The entire scenario resulted in a comical and heartwarming incident that gained widespread attention, leading Kelley to take additional action. As a result, she has initiated a petition with the goal of making ‘Twith’ a universal emote on the streaming platform.
Currently, her uservoice petition has garnered 193 votes and Twitch, or Twith as they are known, remains with the misspelling on their Twitter profile picture.
“She expressed her joy in knowing that this silly moment brought smiles to many people, and vowed to remember her AB-‘s in the future.”
Recently, there have been numerous viral moments on the app, such as streaming star Kai Cenat’s realization that a child had used his mom’s credit card to donate $11,000 worth of gifted subs to his channel.
