Twitch has recently announced another price increase for subscriptions, adding to the previous cost adjustment made earlier this summer.
On August 21, Twitch, owned by Amazon, announced that mobile viewers would see an increase in prices for new Tier 1 sub and gift sub starting in October.
According to a post on X, the site has announced that new Tier 1 sub and gift sub prices on the mobile app will be increased in over 40 countries starting from October 1.

The increase in subscription cost by $1 for Twitch in the United States in July, from $4.99 to $5.99, was followed by this news. This change affected 30 regions, including the United States.
The cost of subs are going up again.
It should be noted that the recent price hike only applies to mobile users, and subscribers in tier 2 and 3 will not be impacted. Furthermore, Apple and Google receive a 30% commission on mobile transactions, which may have influenced the company’s choice. Nevertheless, this has not prevented users from expressing their dissatisfaction.
“I am amazed by how you continue to accumulate losses after losses. It’s shocking,”one person replied.
“Another person expressed frustration, saying, “Wasn’t it already enough to increase the prices a couple of months ago? This is just another disappointment.”
“Someone else pleaded for the prices of subscriptions to stop increasing, as it negatively affects small streamers. They shared that many regular subscribers were forced to cancel renewing their subs when the price was increased to $5.99, especially since mobile pricing is already overly expensive.”
Please stop increasing prices on subscriptions. It hurts small streamers! So many regular subscribers had to cancel renewing subs when you bumped it up to $5.99 and mobile pricing is already ridiculously high! Now you’re increasing mobile pricing even more?

Twitch’s recent rise in subscribers comes just a month after The Wall Street Journal reported that employees at the company were worried about potential mass layoffs due to Amazon’s ongoing financial losses on the streaming platform.
In January 2024, the company laid off 500 employees, which accounted for 35% of its entire workforce.
