Content creators across the internet are voicing their concerns following multiple allegations of Kick streamers “harassing”fellow influencers at TwitchCon San Diego.
TwitchCon is an annual event that gathers some of the most prominent streamers on the platform for a weekend filled with meet-and-greets, challenges, panels, and more.
While a bit of chaos is not uncommon at such events, TwitchCon San Diego 2024 experienced several negative incidents particularly involving Kick streamers.
One notable incident involved a Kick streamer who faced backlash after being accused of sexually harassing Twitch stars nmplol and Wake Wilder by licking and kissing them during a meet-and-greet.
This same streamer also directed inappropriate comments toward xQc, who referred to them as a “weirdo”and left the area as they persistently followed him.
In another altercation, a Kick streamer engaged in a fistfight with Twitch star Erobb after alleging that he had cheated on his long-term partner during a live-streamed confrontation.
The accumulation of these events over the weekend left many content creators frustrated with the behavior of Kick streamers and the broadcasting policies at live events like TwitchCon.
Jeff Stegner, product manager at Elgato, proposed that IRL streaming should either be restricted or banned at TwitchCon in light of the incidents that transpired over the weekend.
“If they banned IRL streams from TwitchCon I’d be 100% ok with it,” he stated in a tweet. “Or limit it to Twitch ambassadors or something. The amount of bad actors who have come into TwitchCon live to be a menace to farm views is such a buzzkill from an otherwise awesome weekend.”

“I’m sorry, but Kick streamers acting inappropriately at TwitchCon is only tarnishing Kick’s reputation,” remarked Twitch partner Queen Ti.

OTK member and Twitch streamer Tectone delivered one of the most discussed responses during a broadcast on September 23, expressing his outrage at the situation.
“[They’re] harassing innocent people for no f*cking reason,” he commented. “It’s a joke. The fact that Extra Emily had to run away from a Kick streamer because she felt unsafe is insane. Not once, but twice.”
“It’s insane,” he continued. “The only thought I’ve had in my head is, ‘Damn, I wish I was there when it happened.’ I mean, there’s people pushing people into moving trains. It was a f*cking clown fest.”
Tectone’s remarks were justified; a Kick streamer did push another creator into a moving train outside of the TwitchCon venue during a live argument that was streamed online.
While Kick has attempted to enhance its moderation efforts, these incidents are only a fraction of the alarming occurrences attributed to streamers on the platform over the past year, raising questions among netizens about when – or if – the site will enforce significant changes to address such misconduct.
