Two Years Later: Fans Skeptical About New Anime Announcement from Demon Slayer Studio

Ufotable has been diligently working on **Demon Slayer** over the past five years, but there is one project from the studio that fans are beginning to doubt will come to fruition.

Today, September 16, 2024, marks the two-year anniversary since the announcement of the **Genshin Impact** anime by publisher **Hoyoverse**. The game, launched in 2020, quickly gained immense popularity as a free, anime-inspired open-world RPG, captivating audiences on consoles and PC by offering extensive gameplay without requiring any payment.

The game has maintained its popularity, with development studio **miHoYo** continuing to expand the **Honkai** franchise, which now includes two major MMO games across modern platforms. As part of **Genshin’s** remarkable growth, a TV show was teased via a brief concept trailer.

Ufotable, the esteemed studio known for its acclaimed adaptations of **Demon Slayer**, **Fate/Zero**, and **God Eater**, has been tasked with animating the **Genshin Impact** series, which has been referred to as a “long-term collaboration project” between the two studios. However, there have been no updates regarding the release window, animation progress, or even an official title since the announcement.

Of course, Ufotable has been preoccupied with bringing **Demon Slayer** Season 4 to life, as well as completing the **Infinity Castle** trilogy of films, which concludes Tanjiro’s ongoing battle against **Muzan**.

This raises further questions about the status of the **Genshin Impact** anime. Is there any progress being made? Or is it doomed to fade away as public interest shifts from **Genshin Impact** as the leading title?

“We are never getting this sh*t. This was just a commercial for the game lol,” commented one user on X/Twitter in response to the two-year milestone. “They took so long to develop it that I am starting to dislike **Genshin** now,” another chimed in.

“And the Switch port was announced like four years ago; Hoyoverse can hype things up but can’t deliver,” another user added.

While there is always a chance that this project is still in development, the lack of information has led many fans to become increasingly skeptical. Often, spinoffs can get lost in the shuffle, and it remains to be seen what the ultimate fate of this one will be.
